Quick Synopsis
Hawkeye, while out on patrol, tries to break up a fight between two people in an alley. One assailant gets away. Hawkeye questions the other person about the situation, but the man is extremely reluctant to trust him. Eventually, after gaining some information and following a few leads, Hawkeye finds himself trying to help a group of former lab-rat women trying to escape the clutches of a failed wanna-be-Power-Broker group trying to tie up loose ends. And by tie up loose ends, I mean kill all the former human lab rats they tried to give superpowers to. Hawkeye is unable to get any help from the other Avengers since the Power Broker wanna-bes put up Captain America's face all over their facility for advertising, and the former lab rats don't trust him.
Writing/story
As much as I wanted to like it (since it's a Hawkeye story), I just couldn't. Way too much talking and way too little action. I didn't buy a Hawkeye TPB to see him acting as a detective. The story was overly confusing; by the end I really had no idea what was going on anymore. But that was mostly because the majority of the story was really boring and I couldn't get myself to pay attention to it enough to remember all the little important details.
Artwork
Nothing special, but nothing terrible either. Roger Robinson holds his own.
Fight Scenes
Too few and far between, but generally pretty cool and well written when they happen. The only real problem with the fights is the lack of interesting people in them. There's Hawkeye, one other person with a cool power suit, and cameo appearances from Chance and Trapster. Literally everybody else in every fight is just a normal person/nameless goon.
The Good
Decent fight scenes (particularly with Trapster and Chance), a few good feats for Hawkeye, decent artwork.
The Bad
A story too boring for me to care about at all if I tried. Too many subtle plot twists for a plot that can't keep the reader's attention. Not enough action.
2.5/5
(TBH, this rating might be slightly generous just because I'm a Hawkeye fan.)
