ISSUE #1Writer: Ron Marz Background:I know absolutely nothing about Vampirella, Red Sonja or the characters involved in this book. I've read a few stories with Kulan Gath from Marvel back in the late 80's/early 90's. According to the solicits this is the first company wide crossover in Dynamite Comics history. The Story:If you hadn't heard by now or you've been living under a rock, the Mayan Calendar predicts the end of an age in December of this year. The premise behind this book is the sorcerer Kulan Gath wants to harness that destructive energy and recreate a new world. He's opposed by his longtime enemy Red Sonja who manages to follow him through time. They both end up on the Yucatan Peninsula during the height of the Mayan Empire. Circumstances lead to them both returning to the present where she runs into Vampirella, Pantha and Dracula. In 1890's England Sherlock Holmes and Watson are investigating a murder at a London museum. It turns out that a man was murdered while he was trying to steal an object. The object is the same knife Kulan Gath was using to perform rituals during his trip back in time to the Mayan Empire. Thoughts:This book was easy to jump into. Marz does a fine job with the characters involved and I'm interested in seeing how everything ties together. My interest has definitely been captured and I plan on following this mini. 4/5 ISSUE #2Issue 2 has arrived from Marz & Geovani. Our story picks up with Herbert West locked away in a mental hospital in Massachusetts. He's ranting about the impending cataclysm as his guards ignore him until he goes silent. They check his cell and he's suddenly disappeared. In a nice little Easter egg of sorts we see that the names of some of the other prisoners are Ron Marz, Geovani and a few of the book's other creators. We go back to the Yucatan Peninsula where Red Sonja has encountered Dracula and Vampirella. Dracula is getting ready to take a bite out of her neck but she says she's on the trail of Kulan Gath. The three agree to an unsteady alliance when Pantha, Evita and Herbert West show up. The group takes off after Kulan Gath and tracks him down to a Mayan Temple. He's casting a spell and summons some demons to deal with the group. They appear to be in over their heads until Athena arrives and takes out one of them with her spear. Thoughts:Not a whole lot of story progression in this one. Sherlock Holmes was absent and we still haven't seen Allen Quartermain. This issue felt like it was getting the pieces in place and it served its purpose. It's still an interesting book and I plan on checking out the next installment. 3/5

Gonna get the trade.
Also Red Sonja is awesome, not buying her comics makes the balls of a comic fan smaller.
SHAME ON ALL YOU!

That's the power of Red Sonja, she can make your balls grow larger and your chest hair thicker.

What does Red Sonja and Vampirella in the same issue do? Put little boys on the way to become men.

Sherlock Holmes was absent and we still haven't seen Allen Quartermain. That's cause the sheer manliness of having both in a single issue so suddenly would have cause girls catching a sight of that to grow a penis or wet themselves. Writers have to set that up slowly.

Fury missed this review till know (and the release of this, the downfall obviously of only getting my comics digitally from comixology instead of a trip now and then to the comic store). Definitely going to have to get this - thanks.

Fortunatley I guess the lack of hair on my head will still let them know I'm not an ape. Maybe i should get my back hair transplanted to my head / naaahhh real men don't care what they look like (and it must be true or I'd at least make an effort)

this is true. Have you read anything with Herbert West? The original Lovecraft short story "Reanimator" as well as the silly B-movie I watched.
