I'm really not sure about the outcome. But it should be an hellfire fight. Random encounter. Standard equipment. The battle takes place here. Doom tries to open a portal in order to gain new power. And the "freak" Sorrow appears. Two different characters. Doom has honor and style. Sorrow is just...a monster. It's maybe a mismatch... Are they in the same league ? or Sorrow is in the Dormammu's league ? So if somebody is interested by this fight.

Can't Sorrow kill someone simply by making eye contact or them seeing his face?
Not sure how it would affect Doom...

Hi Jake, I miss your battle thread on comicvine. They were very cool. Can't Sorrow kill someone simply by making eye contact or them seeing his face? Not sure how it would affect Doom... Yes. If I correctly remember...he can turn Shazam in stone and a bunch of people. But Shazam came back to life. And maybe another hero too. And Doom has very good magic skills. However Johnny seems to be able to channel the power of a big freak. www.comicvine.com/king-of-tears/29-22531/It could be the difference.

Maybe Beatboks can shed some light on Sorrow. He's a bigtime classic JSA fan.

If Doom has no pre knowledge of Sorrow, then I Would give the win to Sorrow as Doom will likely look him in the face before attempting to kill him.

Johnny Sorrow isn't a character i have a lot of time for. he's one of Geoff John's poorer concepts IMO. The idea of a character who can kill just by you looking at him is just WRONG as I see it. The JSA usually win for similar reasons that Flash beats Zoom. He blames them for his plight and disfigurement and us such wants to make them suffer. Therefore he doesn't go for the "killer look" and always gives them a chance to come out with a win.
He really has no reason to do that against Doom (or for that matter no reason I can think if to kill him). If the two actually fought without prep, Sorrow would win. With prep all Doom needs is a mirror. Of course if the power Doom was seeking was that of the King of tears ( which might be why he get's Sorrow's dimension) and he get's it, Sorrow is F#$%ed

Maybe it's a poor concept: "I look you I kill you". But it seems possible to create a good character (for me the gorgon could be a good example). In fact I really like the design of Sorrow (the mask,...no head..., the suit) but I'm not a big fan of the character. Your last sentence is really possible. Sorry, I don't understand the joke about the nose.

Sorry, I don't understand the joke about the nose. If it was a case of him having the power to kill by looking at some one I probably wouldn't mind (as much) but being able to kill by someone actually seeing you is crap. It means that the ONLY way to beat such a character is a plot device. the problem is in almost all ways but artistic appearance Sorrow is a nothing character. the character motivations are the least creative and the most over used in fiction, the concept of the power type can be traced back to several ancient mythologies (Medusa ring a bell). the whole character set up is just damn lazy. On the nose is an Australian colloquialism that means smells awful, obviously Crom intended it in it's much more widely accepted manner as being a winner.
