Writer: Chris Yost This arc collects issues #7-9 of the current series.
The Story: When Roxxon's downtown office is attacked In Houston, TX Kaine rescues a young lady falling from a building. After a one night stand with her, Kaine diescovers she's the somewhat insane daughter of Roxxon's CEO and orchestrated the attack herself. Kaine sets out to investigate the events that have transpired and uncovers an off shore Roxxon operation that has brought a creature/entity from the bowels of the Earth to the surface.
Things get complicated when Texas' own super hero team the Rangers get involved. To put it lightly, Kaine doesn't see eye to eye with the way traditional super heroes operate but eventuallly gives in and decides to do the right thing. They team up to take down the Roxxon operation and come face to face with the creature called Mammon.
The Good: Chris Yost has such a great handle on Kaine's character and he's at the top of his game here. Kaine is definitely not your traditional hero and you see his struggles with nearly every decision he makes dues to his past. The tension between Kaine and the Rangers is a driving force behind this book and goes along well with some great action.
The Bad: The only negative thing about this book is the art. I had grown accustomed to Ryan Stegman's stellar work and the art for this arc isn't nearly as good. It isn't necessarily bad but it does detract from the book in certain points when it gets a bit clunky.
Overall: 4/5 Yost continues to rock this series. This is one of the best books on the shelf right now and this arc doesn't disappoint.

Thanks, NorCal. Next up for Kaine is a crossover with Venom-Flash! Pumped for that one.
