We all have different reasons to read comics.
People might like books but don't have the patience for it. People like the stories or art. People might like a character and enjoy seeing his trials and tribulations.
So. What do you look for in comics?

The first thing that catches my eye is the art. If the art is some ghastly looking crap then I am probably not going to buy it.
I also tend to get very interested in particular characters and try and read as much of their stuff as possible.
I also have to start at the very beginning of a volume, I don't like jumping on when I can catch up via trades.

Depends on the character, honestly.

A good story that will make me want to keep reading. That's all I need I think this is mostly my stance as well. In general I'm not a fan of overly dark and grim stories, but if the quality is good enough I don't really care.

I buy based on who's in the comic. This as well. I really enjoy getting the gusto to read a ton of stuff about a character. Led to me getting like 40+ issues of Moon Knight, LOL.

If I don't like the artwork, I don't read the story.
If the artwork is good, I'll give any writer a chance to impress me.

Story and art are both vital to me but I have loved stories with terrible art before. If I had to choose one, I would pick story over art. It kind of pisses me off when a title doesn't have a set artist though and it is always alternating. Filler issues are horribad. I can't stand them because it is honestly a waste of money and time to read them.

Erik-El. The filler issues for Immortal Iron Fist are still good stories to read. They'd do a main story arc, filler about an Iron Fist in the past, story arc, filler about Iron Fist in the past etc. I enjoyed the filler stories.

I haven't read those so I can't say how I feel about them. Things I am talking about are issues that pad stories. Unnecessary stuff that takes up an entire issue. But now that you mention it, issues like "A week in Wolverine's life" is also kind of lame. Filler issues are generally written very poorly. Obviously there are exceptions to the rule and in your case, Iron Fist seems to be one of them. But in my opinion, an exception to the rule does not disprove the rule.

I do agree with you. I just felt like pointing out the ability of Brubaker. Who was co-writer of Immortal Iron Fist.
90% of fillers are awful.
