No joke, cars could be made out of fruit in the future, and as fruity as that sounds, it might not be that bad an idea. A few of my home dawgs in Brazil (yeah, because I totally know scientists in Brazil : have actually came up with a supposedly more effective way to use fibers from pineapples and bananas in a new generation of automotive plastics that are stronger, faster, lighter, and more eco-friendly than the plastics we got now. That means possibly stronger and lighter materials for cars an' other junk like it. In fact, Alcides Leão, this big brain Ph.D and leader of the study, says that some of these newly developed fibers are almost as stiff as Kevlar. So here I am, sittin' back at my place thinkin', "dang, maybe if I ever get homeless, I could eat my future car to survive." Somethin' tells me that might work out the way I see it in my head, but oh well, somethin' to think about. What are your thoughts on Fruity Cars? www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/03/110328092459.htm

Yeah I suppose I could, but they don't get out much. Not too sociable if you know what I mean.

On a serious note, I really doubt anything'll come out of it. News love to report on a latest invention with great enthusiasm, then the cost, feasibility, applicability etc. come in. Cool idea, but I'll hold my breath.

Probably, and I suppose I'm kinda the same way about it, but I did find
to be a pretty good reason for it to happen. I probably won't notice if this goes through to begin with, just figure it's somethin' cool.

Awesome stuff. I agree that the cost for new stuff like this will likely cripple its ability to be commercially available for quite some time though.

Well, at least car crashes would leave biodegradable debris.
And hey, if you're hungry, you can take a bite out of the dashboard.
