Lord of the Rings is awesome. I re-read it once a year at least.

The movies were spectacular, but the books were spectacular-er.

They better not flark up The Hobbit movie. It was the first real epic story I ever read as a kid. The dragon was bad ass.

Personally, I had to read The Hobbit first, in order to get used to the writing style. I have yet to read it. It's a very good fantasy story and a lot a easier to follow than Lord of the Rings.

I honestly kind of hesitant on the Hobbit part 1 and 2 coming to be under the same director as Pan's Labyrinth and Hellboy. I love both of the movies, but Im not sure if that style would fit well with Jackson's masterpieces.

So I think it's a good idea to have someone with a different style do the movies anyway.

The movies were some of my favorites, especially the first one. I have the books but I admit I haven't read them yet. I should.

I fucking love LOTR. I do prefer the books over the movies in several places though.

According to latest news, Del Toro has left the project, and Jackson is once again in the director's seat.
