Didn't see a thread for this! The wife and I saw this movie Friday night. There were quite a few young children (5 & under) which is always a pet peeve of mine especially with some of the material presented in the previews. Oh well, they can all grow up to be barbarians as long as they stay off my lawn.
The Movie!
Downey was born to be Tony Stark. There isn't any doubt in my mind about that. This movie had a little bit too much Tony for my liking though. The spy gadgets he invented were cool but why go that route when he knew he had those dozen or so suits of armor laying around?
I thought the armor was pretty weak. It's defense capabilities were basically cut through by the Extremis goons like a hot knife through butter. I'm supposing they wanted a Melter vibe without plainly calling them that. The guy that played the villain was cool but the Mandarin reveal was absolutely disappointing.
All in all, it was enjoyable but a little disappointing....

Warning: Sub-Par grammar below. The Mandarin reveal was really bad. What about the 10 Rings terrorists? Where they just a bunch of mercenaries that were paid to pretend to work for the Mandarin or something? And the MK....what? 42? Was ridiculously frail. Seriously, that thing kept being destroyed over the stupidiest things.... And why the hell didnt he use the other armors when he was attacked? I sincerely didnt get that. The scene where they are summoned was cool, yes, but seriously, why the hell didnt he use them before? The villain's death was ridiculously anti-climatic. Pepper Potts killing him with a missile from a random Iron Man suit after doing a back-flip and punching said suit through the chest? How did she even know how to use it's repulsor blast to explode that missile when she had no idea how to opperate the Mk 42 earlier? How did that small ass explosion kill the villain when Mk 42's considerably bigger explosion did nothing? Also didnt like how the Extremis basicaly felt ''Super Soldier Serum is pointless now yolo'' And Iron Patriot did absolutely nothing through the whole movie Although the suits being so weak defensively kinda of made sense. According to Jarvis, Tony kept making them randomly without proper testing or optimization, which can explain why they were so frail. Edit: And i wanted to see the silly AIM suits damn it Given how the movie barely took itself seriously, they would have actually fit. Just have Tony make a quick remark on how stupid they look on their first encounter and BAM, problem solved. It was enjoyable, overral, but it was extremely disappointing. At least the villain's death wasnt quite as bad as Iron Man 2's
