I was going to just let this go but we both know that is not my way. So I spent a considerable amount of time last night researching all your claims, weighing them against mine. Overall I found that not only were you wrong, but I was as well in my claim that Windows PCs are equivalent to Apple PCs. Apple product is very much superior. See below.
• Apple supports: Windows, Linux and Mac OS.
• Non-Apple computers: Windows and Linux.
• Mac OS does not support Blueray or Touch screen.
• An apple computer is a brand of PC.
• Apple uses Intel processors and name brand RAM and hard drives however their motherboards are considered the best and most stable available. Why do you think most movie and music editors use Mac?
• Apple also makes high quality LCD screens.
• Mac OS tends to be more reliable because they do not need to support 100s of brands of computers.
• Apple is both a hardware and software company.
• The only real difference is that Mac motherboards have a security chip that allow you to install OS.
• Apple puts an emphasis on simplicity, not idiocy.
• What is it that you can do on a PC that cannot be done on a Mac?
• Dell, Apple, HP and Gateway all use the same hardware. The only difference is that they each make their own motherboards.
• All motherboards support the same standards: USB, PCIe, DDR, SATA...
• Sure an iMac is hard to upgrade... But so is any all-in-one desktop.
• If you want to compare windows PC towers, you need to compare to the Mac Pro. Mac Pro is fully upgradable with all the same types of hardware as any PC.
• Most movie and music studios use very powerful Mac Pros because there is nothing as good as a top of the line Pro.
• Apple is well known for the quality of its hardware. I guess movie and music editors are idiots that do not want to get things done.
• I actually get more done on my Mac because I do not have to worry about hardware conflicts and all that other bullshit. Also it is a lot easier to find and adjust settings. Microsoft just released Outlook for Mac and I can tell you that it is 100% easier to set up and use because Apple requires stuff to be simple.
• There is nothing wrong with Apple making their shit easy to use. I know how to use a Windows PC better than most. I am not an idiot. I do like not having to sort through the shit though. It saves me time so that I can.... Oh.... I do not know.... Get stuff done.
• There are lawsuits regarding using info for advertising. Google and Microsoft are involved as well, just so you know. Also, there are currently more lawsuits against Microsoft than Apple. That does not surprise though because they are a bigger company and any fortune 500 company usually has at least one or two lawsuits at any given time. Most for either company do not go anywhere because innocent until proven guilty.
• Microsoft is the bigger platform so there is more software available, that is it. Windows is only better in the sense of gaming because of this. It has been around longer, not that it is easier for programmers to make games on.
• If you are into power processing (a/v production, video processing/conversion) then go with OS X.
• Also, Apple computers run windows better than Dell, Gateway and HP.
• Microsoft is also losing their software advantage anyway to companies like Adobe. Microsoft makes other software companies reinvent the wheel for each operating system so companies like Adobe came up with a new software development environment that will let people develop on a single platform. This will make it so that developers with a tight budget do not have to choose Mac or Windows. One size will fit all.
• Also, Apple is getting ready to release the App store for Mac. This will let anyone sell software to Mac users without a distributor, saving developers money.
I have not admitted bias, I have said that based on my personal experiences, MACS do not outperform PCs in any way. But that is difference from being biased.
You specifically said that you cannot believe that Macs are superior. Which is odd anyway because that was not my original argument. I am making that claim now and spent a great deal of time last night researching all your claims to provide a thorough explanation listed above.
I came to my opinion by experience. I have never seen a single MAC that could in any capacity truly outperform an equally tricked out PC. And it is an objective fact that PCS have far room for expansion.
I doubt you have actually compared a Mac to a Windows PC.
Ergo, I believe PCs are better based on all the data before me.
Easy to do when you only choose to see the data that benefits you.
Neither do mine, look at the specs for the computer examples in those links and compare piece by piece to a MAC of equal money invested, then take in the additional room for expansion.
Mac Pro......
It doesn't lie either. You haven't proven that MACS are objectively better compared to a personally built PC have at the cheapest levels, like my 647$ one.
First off, you really need to stop comparing home built PCs to Macs. It is bias and actually wrong anyway. You can buy Logic Boards for the Mac Pro without even having to make the purchase through Apple if you really fear them so.
When a supposedly objective analysis spends this much time on subjective stuff like look and comfort, then I question their study.
So you claim bias studies because they noted how Macs just look better? Most would agree with that anyway. I suspect you do as well since that is something you have decided to shotgun.
That's a lot different from shit-canning as you say or claiming a conspiracy.
No. Not at all actually. You cannot say the numbers were bias unless you are specifically saying that they lied outright. The writers behind the study can give Apple all the praise in the world about the looks but the numbers have nothing to do with how aesthetically pleasing Macs are. You are also the one that suggested some kind of Apple/Computer magazine publisher conspiracy, not me.
And with this in mind, I'd have to run their numbers myself before I can actually take their claims seriously because as they are presented, I got the impression that they were not objective when they started.
I believe that even if you did run the numbers yourself, you would not believe the results.
Upon which, I counter by showing you what you can have within several price ranges and the relevant specs of those computers. And when comparing I see nothing to make me believe MACs are better.
Give me actual relevant data. Compare Apple product to Gateway, HP and Dell.
And again, since PCS have more room for expansion and customization, and aren't run by a jackass on the level as the owner of MAC. Then I can only come to the conclusion that PCs are better.
That is not true either. Macbooks are just as hard to upgrade as any laptop, iMacs are just as hard to upgrade as any all-in-one desktop and Mac Pros are just as easy to upgrade as any Windows PC tower.
Read this and see if it makes sense to you: "Fruit is better than plumbs.... Plumbs are for people without an appetite.... While fruit is for people who want to eat." Does that make any sense at all? Because that is what your PC vs Mac argument sounds like.
