Here's a thread to discuss all things comedy. You can talk about stand-up comedy, comedy in movies, comedy in cartoons etc.

Comedy is all about knowing your audience. For instance, everyone here would get a good Spider-Man OMD joke, but most non-fans would not.

I made a thread about Russell Peters on CV a few hours ago, I think. Only one person replied so far..I'm pretty surprised by that.

I watched that entire set, it was great. The beating your kids bit is hilarious.

I've seen everything by him. I can relate to pretty much everything, lol.

I haven't seen everything by him but I've seen all his specials on the comedy channel. He's pretty much my second favorite comedian.
BTW: Have you read the 20th century boys manga? How do they compare to the live action movie?only saw the movie

Nice, who's your first? I'm guessing George Carlin.
I read the manga before I saw the live action movie. It's definitely one of my favorites. Compared to the live action movies, I'd say the manga is superior, and I'm a huge fan of both.

I'd specify by saying old George Carlin the cynical bitter atheist.
And thanks for the info I'm trying to decide what my next manga/anime will be once I'm finished with Mushishi and this seems like a good one.

Mushishi is another favorite of mine. Judging by your preferences of manga/anime, I'm sure you'll like it. How did the movie treat you?

I didn't actually get to watch the whole thing, mostly because it was shown at a movie festival and I had to leave because I would have missed my bus.
But from what I saw it got me interested right at the start. Then I read the synopsis and I found this looked a lot like the kind of stuff I love to read.

A friend of mine was in a populated pub. The music was loud. He really needed to let one go. It had been building up for a while. So he waited until the music went higher, and when he did he let loose each time the song was loud. He had got it all out of his system. The music was still quite loud. When he turned around he saw that everyone was giving him funny looks. It was now that he realised that he had his iPod in all along.
