Dante: Because he's like a saturday morning cartoon character and Ash from Evil Dead 2/3 rolled into one and he's endlessly entertaining.
Solid Snake: Seriously? He's goddamn Solid Snake.
War (Darksiders: This is more of an honourable mention than anything, since he's hardly much of a character. I just like him since he's basically what Kratos would be if you removed all the stuff I didn't like about Kratos and gave him a cool one-liner here and there.
Sly Cooper: Suave, cool roguish raccoon dude who steals stuff for the greater good and has a sense of class. Literally nothing to dislike about him.
Samus: I'm conflicted as hell about this, because, while I've always appreciated Samus for being what basically amounts to the first strong female protagonist in gaming, she's gone on a real decline lately. Other M did terrible, unspeakable things to her character that are pretty unforgivable. Before that, though, she was basically Gordon Freeman-she had no personality. But I have to give her a mention because prior to Other M and the prequel manga and all that, she had this incredible aura of mystery surrounding her that can only be given with a vague and ambiguous backstory and motivations that made her very compelling and what amounted, for all intents and purposes, to making her the female, videogame version of The Man With No Name. Metroid was the first videogame series I ever really took an interest in, so I'd mention her anyways I guess.

yeah I thought you would  Other M made Samus a walking emotional wreck of a woman with serious daddy/authority issues. She's basically useless when confronted with any significant thing from her past and it also makes her out to be a lot weaker than previously represented (though she's got some pretty badass hand to hand skills). |
