So far, all of your claims about his incredible rope-swinging skills are completely word of mouth. Do you have evidence that shows he is as expertly skilled as you claim?
Perhaps, but still not fast and mobile enough to dodge a bullet if he comes into Deathstroke's field of vision.
Yes, he will see the lighthouse get coated. He'll also see the stream of lubricant originating from atop the roof next to the lighthouse, telling him exactly where Trapster is. Then he'll just crouch down, pull out his rifle, and watch the building. Anything that moves around the edges of the building will get a bullet in it.
Someone who can think with nine times the speed of a normal human is nothing if not adaptable. He just needs to keep his eyes open. When he sees the lubricant on the lighthouse (and possibly the spray of lubricant leading from the next roof) he will be surprised, but only for a second. It wouldn't take a genius to think, "WTF. That greasy stuff wasn't covering the lighthouse before. Though it comes to me as a surprise, this can be nothing but the workings of my opponent. Despite no obvious indication of such in my pre-battle info, it has become clear to me that my opponent has some method of rapidly traverscing the battlefield. Some kind of glue ropes, perhaps? IDK. Anyway, judging by how he sprayed the top of the lighthouse, he apparently has some means of gaining elevation. It would thus be prudent of me to keep watch of the areas above me as well as around me." "Oh, wouldja look at that. There he is. And I was right, too. Glue ropes. How inventive. He must be a rather brilliant inventor. Too bad he's in my crosshairs."
There are many kinds of intelligence. I was just referring to the kinds of intelligence that would be relevant in this scenario. The fact that Trapster is a brilliant chemist doesn't mean anything here, other than that he already knows how to operate the gadgets he's invented, which was already generally assumed.
Yet again, I have neither seen scans nor heard details about either of the fights you are referencing, so I really can't comment.
I very great cost of mobility, I would think. I find it doubtful that one can move much at all when covered head to toe in hardened super-strong glue.

Unfortunately, I do not own said comics and I have been unable to find any scans online but I'll list for you some sources online which corroborate my story. I generally read comics in book stores and from the library which surprisingly has a good selection. Visit your local Library![/PublicServiceAnnouncement]
Marvel.com: He is so accomplished with the use of his gun that he can trap an opponent’s limb, jam machinery, build restraining walls, and form paste “lassoes.” He could even retract the stream of glue, a technique which helped him to form a swing-line much like Spider-Man.
Wikipedia: He can shoot out a stream of liquid glue that immediately gels into a springy rope, allowing him to duplicate Spider-Man's web-shooters (to the point where he is the only person Spider-Man knows who can even create an apporximate duplicate of his webbing).
All other sites on the net have directly copied these two sources, even down to the misspelling of the word lassos. While I am loathe to rely upon these types of sources, they are all I can provide at this current time.
He has more than enough range to stick to the inner parts of the roof and be completely invisible to Slade. If he makes that roof his homestead, Slade will have no means of ever laying eyes on him much less a bullet unless he ventures through one of his lubricant traps.
He may think 9 times faster but he is not 9 times smarter than an average human. His tactics are nothing but military turned up to eleven with a dash of manipulation. He breaks down people based upon what he knows not about them and then chooses the appropriate military strategy. His ability to think outside the box is very limited, which is why he was so easily manipulated by Alexander Luthor. He would likely presume that like the Golden Glider, Pete's boots may be able to produce lubricant and he was enhancing his movement that way. When Green Arrow hit him with a bit of ingenuity, his 9 times faster brain was useless.
Pete's mobility won't be too limited, since he can use solvent on the joints allowing him full movement and use the lubricant to offset his speed loss due to weight.
Slade will only really be able to kill him if Pete is completely unaware as any attempt to shoot him will result in him throwing up a glue wall launching a glue ball.
I think I have posted as much as I can here to defend Pete, if you wish to go to voting after this we may. Unless you post something that needs rebuttal. Wait is this a voting thing?

I assume you guy's won't mind if voting starts.
At this stage I'm leaning toward Nexus in this one. As much as it pains me to say this (since on normal tournament breakdown of winner fight 1 v winner fight 2 means if I win I'm facing "Deathstroke the motherf*cking Terminator" as deaadman put it .)
While deadman as usual has given great arguments, I just can't buy the glue gun attack at a distance being enough to protect against an assault rifle in the hands of someone as accurate as Slade. I also find it a little hard to buy that an assault rifle bullet (speed of sound and all) will be stopped by glue (no matter how fast setting)
NOW if DM comes up with some supported evidence to substantiate (that I don't have to look up myself -lazy) than I MIGHT BE CONVINCED TO RECONSIDER !!!!

I think it would be best if we waited for PN to agree to voting before we begin.
Pete is currently using highly pressurized glue extruded by fine tips at the ends of each finger. He could throw up a wall or something similar that would completely stop the bullet. Accuracy means nothing if there is a wall that can stand up to super strong blows you must shoot through. If he so chose he could construct a building out of the glue and be completely protected. His glue can take Ben Grimm-level blows and not even react. I believe that Ben Grimm can impart more force than a bullet since one bullet could not move a hundred tons

Those are all good capabilities for his machinery, but it says nothing about him having the skill, reflexes, agility, and aim required to reach speeds in excess of 100 mph with only two-story buildings and precious little excelleration space to work with.
Unless, of course, Deathstroke sees the stream of lubricant being sprayed onto the tower. Since he's running towards the tower, he will be looking in that direction, and I find it highly unlikely that he would be so unobservant to not see the lube being sprayed on.
He's not smarter, per se, but he makes much better choices under pressure when time is a factor. He essentially has nine times the amount of time anyone else would have to examine information, weigh options, consider outcomes, ect.
Yet again, I am completely unfamiliar with all these references. There is nothing I can say in response to this.
Glueing himself over and them applying solvent to all his joints sounds like a rather time-consuming process.
Weighed down by the glue all over his body, and attempting to increase his speed through use of the lubricant? Sounds like he would have all the agility and manuverability of a rhinocerous on an ice-skating rink.
That is, assuming that Pete's reflexes and machinery are all so finely tuned that he can recognize a threat and create a glue wall in less than the amount of time than it takes Deathstroke to pull a trigger (and that doesn't seem likely).
I posted this rebuttal only because I felt obligated to do so. I agree that we've both said all there is to say. Let's let it go to a vote.

OK Still with Nexus for me (more's the pity). Both debaters have presented good solid scenarios and arguments. For me Nexus has put a few more small wholes in DM's argument than DM has done to Nexus

Don't brag it's not too late 4 me to change my mid (and they were small wholes if DM linked any site that stated or showed the glue gun stopping bullets they'd be gone )

You said I put some holes in his argument... my argument was mostly based on shooting his guy with bullets... I just couldn't resist. ;D

That is impossible, Beatboks. The Trapster has never actually been shot by bullets. There is no way in which I could prove the glue can stop bullets through direct evidence. He has been attacked by people who hit harder than bullets and stopped them with his glue, that is the only evidence I could present. I am sorry that was not enough for you.

Yeah, 4 cl's 1st tourney pretty poor. 8 people nominate (others also showed interest), but only 4 have participated.

Well, at least we all participated and voted in each other's battles. I suppose if Beatboks and Power NeXus wanted to battle each other your could.
What if CL had its own Tourney Subforum in the Battle Forum? Maybe that would improve the number of participants?
