Terminator 3 was actually pretty good, if I recall correctly. That being said, the last two seriously probably shouldn't have been made. Especially because there were some moments of awesome brilliance in Salvation and then Worthington just fucking ruined all of it.

also T3 has the best usage of "You're terminated" in the entire franchise. but then again I think there was only two but it was still fucking boss.

I was so excited for it too. I remember I went to the theaters 3 or 4 hours early opening day just so I could get a good seat and the theater guys did not even have a line for it until I came. AND I was the only one in line for it at all. That said, I really liked Salvation and loved Worthington in it. My only problem with Salvation (aside from some acting issues with minor characters) was when they had Hamilton redo the recordings.... and change what she originally said.

Really, Erik? I think I saw that opening day with the ex and it was just a spur of the moment kind of thing. We got dinner nearby, I saw it was out and went 'I want to see that.' Bam, movie viewing with no wait. Suck it, Arizona. But yeah, T3 was all around incredibly average....Which means horrible things when following-up a classic like T2. T: Salvation was just a dumb and fun movie, and I really enjoyed it, TBH.

Good lord I'M IN A FORUM WITH CRAZIES
salvation was so awful in comparison to all the movies that came before it. I just, man, I just don't even know. They'd tried making it bigger and doing something different, but it just lost the spirit of the franchise and fucked it all up. I was actually really enjoying it at the beginning-the helicopter crash and stuff was great, but then it fell so hard. at least there were some good throwbacks.
meanwhile, while T3 was just more of the same and worse than both movies that preceded, it had a fun new villain (whereas Salvation just had the big, invisible, unfocused Skynet as a whole), some great action sequences (that chase god-damn was nice), and some moments of PURE GENNNNNIUUUUUS.
"I'M BACK" blew my FUCKIN MIND

I know now why everyone did not bother packing the house with it but I had spent months reading all the preview magazines and surfing the net for any info on it. So yeah, Terminator fanboy got a reality check opening day. The extra sad thing was that my girlfriend at the time came with me for "silly boyfriend" support.

"I'M BACK" blew my FUCKIN MIND POST POST POST POST POSSSSTTTTTT TERMINATOR T3 killed the spirit long before Salvation came along. "Talk to the hand" and star-lenses glasses. Beyond redemption. Salvation did not bother with any of that shit. If anything, Salvation injected some new life into the franchise. Seriously, the only thing good about the T3 movie was the final scenes and seeing Kristanna Loken naked at the beginning. Everything in between was a super letdown for me.

If you're looking for a quality movie and to add depth to the established canon, T:S is an avoid-at-all-costs kind of film. If you're looking for a fun action movie, it owns heaps. I mean, open heart surgery in the middle of the fucking windy desert? C'mon. This movie was all about the popcorn fun and not the brain, lol.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. I feel like it tried too hard to be something on par with T2, and completely missed the mark. Is it an alright and fun movie? Yeah, but it's nothing special to me.

Terminator: Salvation was some much dumber and more spirit-killing. At least with T3, you had the classic cat-and-mouse chasing and some good nostalgia. With Salvation, you had a retarded plot twist that was spoiled from the goddamn trailers and blindingly obvious from the beginning, an awful leading man (I hate hate haaaaaaate Worthington), a villain that's absent for 90% of the movie, and some cringeworthy dialogue. T3 had Arnold, so the cringeworthy stuff was passable because it was mostly him that was saying it.
Seriously, man, I fucking hate Salvation. I just fucking hate it. It raped the Terminator franchise for me. I guess it's kind of like how I like Crystal Skull but most folks are like "no, man, that movie raped Indiana Jones". Now I'm the person who's like "No, man, that movie raped Terminator".
Fucking Worthington. Ughghghghgh.

I bet a large portion of your dislike of the film stems from your views on Worthington. I really dislike Bale but I do not let that bother me. What did you expect in the future? The villains are everywhere. They were not missing for 90% of the film, they were peppered throughout the entirety of the film. I also liked most of the Crystal Skull movie. I just dislike how it was sci-fi when the rest of the franchise has been magical/divine type stuff.

Sparda, you're basically agreeing with what I said, LOL.
T:S = dumb fun and does a very good job of it. T3 = tries to live up to T2.
IMHO, T:S meets its goal of being stupid, but entertaining. Sure, the twists are blatantly obvious and nothing about the movie is smart (at all), but it's a fun movie and highly entertaining if you shut off your brain and take it for what it is....
Where-as T3 doesn't succeed in its attempt to duplicate the quality of T2. Is it enjoyable? Yeah, but it's nothing in comparison to T2, IMHO.

Except that T3 is not really that enjoyable. In fact, I will stop giving it a capital 'T' just to stress that I do not really connect it to the rest of the franchise. T1, T2, t3, TS.

Before that, I was alright with him-I mean, he was decent in Avatar. He was just so thoroughly awful in that film that it killed it for me. Yeah, it's alright to have a bunch of threats, but they had no personality. There was nothing to set them apart. Whereas in T3, you had the TX, a serious threat, and then at the end you also got a bunch of little robots going nuts (well, not little, they were packing miniguns). I needed something to focus the tension. Because otherwise, I know that the characters aren't in any danger because there's no way that they're going to kill off a major character from, like, one of those dumb water-robots. The only main, interesting "villain" in that movie was....Arnold. Again. And he showed up at the very end. While I appreciate the brief nostalgia, after they burned off his face I was like "uh, okay, alright". The end of that movie, and the beginning were about the only parts I liked. Well, those and Bale saying "I'll be back". So, TL;DR bullet points for my entire argument on T:S: -Worthington was terrible -No interesting villain until the very end -Unfocused and all over the place -Cringeworthy, awful dialogue -Worthington was terrible -Like, two decent action scenes and uh yeah.
