Just wanted to check out the idea of a Firefly RPG here. I know for a fact that some of you love the show and I thought an RPG on it would be pretty cool. To help out the Role playing, I found a little site dedicated to Firefly RPGing right here: test.fireflyrpg.com/It has little helpful pdfs on gear, a map of the solar system and ships. If the owner ever gets it up to date, there will me even more to help an RPG along but I think what is on there more than does the trick. So what do you think Ledgers? Is it worth a crack to jump into your own ship on the outskirts of civilization? Or maybe be a wealthy and respectable Alliance gentleman with several companions and a taste for shady dealings? Or perhaps even a bounty hunter, smuggler or Alliance assassin? UPDATE 04-04-2011 No doing things that would perhaps contradict potential future comics or movies. Interaction with established characters is fine but no significant impact on their lives. The Events of Miranda becoming public has made people question the Alliance but there has been no war resulting from it yet. This RPG takes place 6 months after the events of the Serenity movie. UPDATE 04-05-2011 No romance with other users in the actual thread. Take it to the PMs if you must but I think that things will go a mite bit smoother without the potential mess it can create. Not necessarily. I do not imagine that it would start off very big so I would want at least some of the characters to be passengers or crew of a ship. But we need antagonists and other characters to interact with so there would be those that are off ship as well.
Assuming (praying) we get large enough, we could have several ships filled with crew as well as on-world characters. But as a starter, I would want at least 3 people on ship if possible to maximize interaction. If everyone that is interested is really wanting to not be part of crew or passengers, then it would be completely fine to not start off on that route.

You can get a decent idea of what the series was like just by watching the movie. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefly_%28TV_series%29You can read up on the culture of the show right here but I must warn you, watching the movie does give spoilers for the characters in the show. So does reading the character bios on the wiki page. I would avoid that section if you intend on watching the show. |

Oh snap, another RP that I'm looking forward to finding time for. Sign me up. I'mma be like all on my own ship, stealin' an' lootin', an then I'mma get hired by the Alliance to steal an' loot for them, an' then I'll do it, but then at the last second, I'mma be like "Psych! This money is mine suckas!" Then I'mma fly off into the sunset, an' then get shot down an' stranded on some unmarked planet wanting and wishing for a bathroom to go to.

Sounds good to me. Just keep in mind that getting shot down all by your bitty lonesome might equal some bad news for you in more ways than just worrying about a bathroom.

Like Reavers, getting conned into marrying some thievin' thief, having Alliance ships on the look out for me, harsh weather conditions, lack of food, and sleepless nights? Nah, I'm thinkin' the bathroom'll be the biggest thing on the worry list.

I'm going to be another one of the "prodigies" that were being groomed by the alliance (al la River Tam). I however am a believer who embraced the programming and serve the cause of the alliance. I have been sent to "collect" useful individuals from the black.

@beatboks: That is fine. But just remember that you are not as good in any way compared to River Tam. If you ever meet River, you would lose the fight.
Which reminds me, everyone can interact with Serenity characters if they want but no one can do anything that would compromise future comics and/or movies. That means no killing Mal or hooking up with River, etc.

I am trying to get my hands on the official Firefly map to use as our reference but in the meantime, the tile map linked at the top will do for now.
