yes it is. The best bars have done so already. smokers still carry the stench with them when they leave this sci-fi drift-smoke area. At which point, if a place is properly built. They should just leave and go about their business. And you should exert restraint and tolerance. The smoker leaves to go about his business. There done, everyone is happy. This stench you speak of is only perceptible if people stand very close to each other and have smoked ungodly amount in an improperly arranged place. And if the smoker insist on doing when that is the case then he is being disrespectful. 2) The clear solution is to ensure the public safety. Something that can easily be done with the use of manners. all of which can be accomplished without taking away smokers right to smoke. 3) Not really. Even people that do not become obese off that sludge is still polluting their bodies in a way that would take months of clean eating to repair. The rules should apply to everyone regardless of how disgusting they let themselves visibly get. Eating some junk food now and then or even with some reasonable regularity won't kill you and it won't harm anyone else. And since some people like the taste of junk food, then they should not have that taken away from them. Just because a morbidly obese person somewhere is abusing junk food.

1) Again, not true. It would only be true if third hand smoke was a lie.
2) Nope. The perceptible smell you are referring to is only what YOU, the smoker can smell. Everyone else can sniff our your trail long after you left.
3) "all of which can be accomplished without taking away smokers right to smoke." If that were true, this would not be an issue at all. And while I do think that smoking should be outright illegal, I only push for a ban on public smoking.
4) That is not true. Eating junk food is harmful. Just because the harm is not something you can see does not dismiss that fact.

I've spent enough time in college to tell you a non-smoker can smell someone who just smoked up from across the room.

OH! THREAD IDEA! "The United States of Erik" It should be a thread where Erik says what he would change if assigned as dictator of the planet. All of his rules would be immediately enforced. I think that could stem some great convos

When I was younger, I'd have extreme reactions to smoke going in my face. I think smoking on a busy street is very rude, but if someone is just trying to find a quiet spot and it accidentally gets blown my way, it's just a minor inconvenience and I get over it.
That being said, I feel uncomfortable hanging out with someone who smokes, because they smell. It's almost like hanging out with someone who doesn't shower. Also kissing a smoker is like kissing a robot whose leaking battery acid into their mouth parts.
