It looks like Mary Jane WON'T be in the new Spider-Man movie!
Taken from TheWrap.com
So, what do you guys think? Are you happy it'll just be Gwen, just like how the 616 started? Or do you want to see MJ?

That makes sense, but only if they decide to go all the way in future films and incorporate the Night She Died arc.

It'll be interesting to see what approach they take, since it's apparently inspired more-so by the 1610 universe. I agree, though. Eventually giving Gwen her classic death would be a nice turn of events and certainly shock fans of the previous movies, but know nothing of the comics. "Hey, didn't they do a scene like this in Spider-Man 1? Oh no, she's falling. Here comes Spider-Man to....Wait, WHAT!?"

There is no way they can replicate Gwen's death in the Ultimate Universe, either. Too graphic, I'd imagine, not to mention perplex.
LOL.

LOL.I should have said "inspired by" instead of basing it off of.

I like this. IMO, Gwen is a cooler character than MJ anyway.

Interesting news. I can't say it bothers me. Curious to see if they are going to kill her later.

I actually think I knew that, but I forgot about it. He's a good choice for a solid mixture between comedy and drama, but I'd want Spider-Man to take the Batman Begins treatment, as far as such a thing would be possible.
And 500 days of Summer is excellent.

I don't think a Batman Begins gritty style fits Spider-Man.

I don't think a Batman Begins gritty style fits Spider-Man. I want a more serious treatment instead of simple campy fun. Not necessarily an imitation of Begins/TDK, since as characters, Batman and Spider-Man along with their supporting cast differ greatly in that aspect, but a more drama driven approach with more realism than previous Spider-Man films (hey look, a guy turns into sand and a random alien symbiote falls right into the spot Spidey chills out with MJ).

Even though I understand why people may consider it somewhat old-fashioned.

I had been hoping for a little less "simple scientist driven mad by the machine on his back" and a little more "egotistical fat guy who sees everyone else as inferior scum".

The former is a much more realistic, dynamic character IMO.
