I have to be honest, I did not like the Christopher Reeve movies. They had cool parts but most of it was campy nonsense. I mute the 'Can you read my mind' poem every single time and the memory of it still makes me cringe. Reeve is awesome, it is just literally everyone else that sucks.I also liked the Superman Returns movie so I do not expect many to agree with my opinion. I kinda agree with that a little. Some parts of the Reeve movies were terrible. xD But I still love 'em. I also liked the newest movie, I thought it was real good.

That's because they are jealous of how awesome he is.

I didn't finish Earth One...Clark came off too moody for me to actually enjoy it. I see how they tried to make him identify more with the readership with his struggle to find out where he belongs and where he's going in life. It felt really Peter Parker. But at the same time it felt like a downer at points with the sad flashbacks and especially when he went to visit Johnathan's grave. It may have been the colors, too.

@illy:
The preview did seem to convey that kind of morose attitude. But then again, Superman does have a lot to be depressed about.

@illy: The preview did seem to convey that kind of morose attitude. But then again, Superman does have a lot to be depressed about. Of course, which is why it's most likely written the way it was. The Earth-One graphic novels are supposed to be modern and the reader is supposed to be able to relate. Being moody, especially in this society is a given. All in all it just didn't come off like a Superman-like story. It seemed more like a story about a guy with Superman's powers. Then again, I'm not done yet, I still haven't even gotten to the part where he actually puts the costume on so I'm really no one to judge.

I am not sure how I feel about them trying to make Superman more relatable to normal people. I always loved how he had plenty of reasons to give in to despair but he never did. He was the epitome of hope and good.
But this is the 'Ultimate' universe for DC and Marvel's was pretty gritty....

Without giving to much away it was just an awesome Superman book Clark still had his traits so you know it's Superman he only is hipper and more aggressive and less intimidating with his symbol. He does some real badass stuff in the book some of his morals are lost while it gives light on some of his other views. I am also a whore for JMS so what ever he writes I gobble up.
