I think that was a huge contributing factor. I also think guys like Jack Johnson and John Mayer, make it seem really easy.

I'll give my list of instruments.
I play the following well enough to play in public Guitar Bass Guitar Trumpet Baritone French Horn/Mellaphone Clarinet Tenor Saxophone
Stuff I can play, but need to improve on before I do in publice Drums Keyboard/Piano Flute Alto Saxophone Tuba Trombone
I also sing quite well, or so I'm told. For me, Music is where I'm talented.

I'm not opposed to playing a nice electric though. I love Taylor. one of the best brands out there IMO.

I am into the acoustic sound as well. I also love that electric but I think it would be a long time before I could shred, especially because I am more into music like Jack Johnson. I will look into the Taylor brand for my first guitar then. Maybe I can find a deal.

I got my first guitar on the 4th. It is a blast to play. It is just a regular acoustic guitar.
Maple top sunburst. Very cool in my opinion.

I sing and play the electric bass and stand-up bass. Was in a few bands, played a few shows. No big deal.

Hmm.... Comic guys tend to not be musically inclined then? Not true. I Started leaning Guitar at 5 by 10 could play acoustic, Spanish, lead and a little slide. I used to write songs (mostly lyrics) and play in bands. I also learned keyboards from 8 to 12. I sang as a tenor and was always one of those kids being PUT into music competitions through junior and early high school. I pulled back a little (to keep some "coolness") and stopped doing all but the band and guitar thing. I traded my electric guitar for an ovation acoustic electric about 25 years ago. Unfortunately it's been over 15 years since I played any instrument (other than maybe harmonica) and I'd have to reteach myself finger speeds for lead and slide (maybe even Spanish) A couple of months practice would see me back to speed (I'd say)

I recently broke one of my strings, and it made me kinda sad.
