i was under the impression that the term Aztec was a mistranslation by a european archeologist which was not a common nor used term at the time of the Mexica(meesheka) empire who would use the term Mexica or Tenochca to identify themselves and not aztec.
the word aztec came from the name of a location called Aztlan which was more or less a mythological place similar to asgard or mount olympus but we wouldnt call a norseman or a greek/italian/spaniard an asgardian nor olympian would we?
aside from that aztec is just a modern name created to name a group of ppl with as close a name to a certain location regardless if the actual people used that term.
it be like me calling a greek or italian olymponic cause you know sounds right... the aztec name is also the equivalent of calling someone a heron person which i personally wouldnt think it would have been used to identify themselves with..
its cool i just wanted to see how much you know... i am not disrespected since i know you are not purposely trying to disrespect me and it is the name and information you have been taught and written in history/school books.

Exactly, my information is based on academic research, books, what I am taught in my classes etc. it's by no means perfect knowledge but I certainly like to help people learn more when I can.
