I wonder if that means "In Japan" or just...."ever". either way, crazy. Im guessing its ever, since this is the 3rd largest earthquake to happen in Japan.

I wouldn't say ever, because there could have been massive ones millions of years ago. Above 20 scales for all we know.

3rd ever in Japan? I'm getting some reports that say largest ever recorded in Japan, although either way it still makes sense and it's still ridiculously massive.

Ugh, cue religious fanatics ranting about the coming apocalypse. Oh, people have been saying that shit since 9/11 (in my lifetime). That being said, it is really annoying and especially insensitive to the people and families of people affected by disasters to go running around yelling that stuff. They're trying to mourn or get their lives back together-they don't need to hear about how it was all deserved or whatever the fuck.

every time I see the footage of the fires, I'm flabbergasted. They're huge and raging across the countryside and eating up homes.
the economic damage of this is going to be unprecedented. I really hope that the rest of the world comes together and helps Japan get back on their feet after this, because I think they'll need it.

Ugh, cue religious fanatics ranting about the coming apocalypse. Not surprised. Annoying but not surprising. What is more annoying IMO, is when I see people talking on TV on how this affect the global economy.

Worst thing to happen to the world: Religion. Separates everyone and for no real reason. The only thing that should separate someone is Sports! I remember the 9/11 Religions crap. That led to 2012 the end of the Mayan calendar.

And to think that Japan is prepared for those kinds of situation. Could you imagine the destruction and the deaths if this had happened somewhere else in the world?

And to think that Japan is prepared for those kinds of situation. Could you imagine the destruction and the deaths if this had happened somewhere else in the world? Yeah, remember the Haiti quake? Over 300,000 people were reported to have died as a result of that one, and it was a 7.0. While it's still horrible, Japan's advances made them resistant to this, which is fortunate.

True, things could have been a lot worse in Japan if they weren't prepared for this.
