I don't believe anyone (with an open-mind) is surprised in the least by natural disasters. I just find it so amusing when a few tragic things happen and you hear idiots going "ZOMG END OF TEH WORLDZ"

Specifically , there has been an explosion at the plant, caused by the earthquake, which in turn caused problems with the plant's systems and radiation to leak into the surroundings. The risk of Chernobyl-style meltdown is low, but civilians have been evacuated in a 20 mile circle of the plant.

I heard in the news that there was one dead in California by the tsunami. I also heard that the day got bigger because of the earthquake. The dead are officially now over 1000
