I don't mind when shows get canceled so long as there's a definite ending. I need closure. I got closure with Dollhouse, Firefly kinda sorta gave us some closure with the movie and some tie in comics. Still a few loose ends, but I'm still sorta satisfied.
The only thing I didn't get closure with was with the Cape. I know I'm among the few who liked the show, and I know I'm among the even few who watched it through to the end, but I can't help but feel like I need something to make me feel better. I hope it gets a comic.

Yes it does, even a single appearance can make you a hate worthy mary sue. No it doesn't. Just being powerful does not make you a Mary Sue. Being too perfect is what makes you a Mary Sue. I'm a mod. Karma is my bitch.

No it doesn't. Just being powerful does not make you a Mary Sue. Being too perfect is what makes you a Mary Sue. Conceptually speaking considering how powerful the Ancients were, then anything more powerful then them, popping out of nowhere for no other purpose then to serve as a lazy way to permit a poor plot, qualifies them as a mary sue, because conceptually off the bat they are too perfect.

No it doesn't. If that was true, then every new cosmic threat in comics would be a Mary Sue, and it's not. Powerful=/=Perfect no matter how powerful they are.

You can't compare the Ancients and that new bullshit race to cosmic threats in comic book worlds.
The reason for that is that it was established that the Ancients were the pinnacle of power because they achieve the highest level of possible scientific advancement same with the splinter faction that became the Ori.
These two groups were purposely written as the top
This new race was simply written in out of nowhere as "like ancients but better" they qualify as Mary Sues. Because they were purposely written as to be better for no other purpose then to lazily permit plots and they do so by ignoring core concepts of the Stargate setting just because by having those threats of being like the Ancients but better it permits the plot. This is the same as introducing a author avatar in poor faction that is like one existing character only better in every way. They are Mary Sues.
Comparing them to cosmic threats in comics or other worlds isn't appropriate because these are worlds where it is established that cosmic threats in multitude numbers and that there could be any number of them and more powerful ones off the bat.
SGU is a steaming pile of shit. It's an insult to Stargate.
Edit: In my opinion at least. Let's just agree to disagree because I don't see us agreeing anytime soon.

What's so great about Firefly anyway? Just about everyone who mentions it say it was one of the best shows ever and should never have been cancelled. Before I add it to my rather extensive list of reruns I need to watch, I'd like to know what made it so popular. For me it had a lot to do with the character dynamics. There were elements of the interplay between characters that paralleled many of my favorite shows. The character (like in many shows I like) had contradictory character types that created natural conflict, which aided in character development and exploration. Mal(The captain) - a war veteran (hero of a great battle on the loosing side) who fought in a failed revolution. two driving character traits, fiercely loyal and and driving desire for independence and autonomy Zoey (1st office) - stalwart follower of the captain, been with him for years (since the war) Wash (pilot) -comedic self interested individual with some redeeming qualities. loves the 1st officer (husband of) and do anything for Kaylee(Engineer) - young man staved woman who really needs some man time. Sweet wanting not to be innocent. very good engineer who knows space craft inside out (too bad she deals with a bucket of bolts) Jane (thief/muscleman) - always out for himself, but like the others of the crew immensely loyal to Mal ( Mal's reward for how protective he is of the rest of his crew) Sheppard (preacher/missionary, former government official)- bringer of enlightenment who travels aboard Serenity and sees redeeming features in Mal (Mal always goes to him for advise. when he first met Mal he was perplexed on the one hand he seemed to not be indifferent to the needs or concerns of anyone, on the other overly protective of his crew) Denora (Companion/escort ) paying passenger who uses Serenity as a means of traversing the universe for her clientele ( in the universe of firefly an escort is a highly respected profession). Mal just happens to be in love with her (keeps it to him self) River (doctors sister) wanted by the Alliance (government). she's a powerful TP who was experimented on by the government which turned her into a killing machine (seeded into her mind) mentally unstable. Simon (Doctor) - Loyal to his sister, serves as ships doctor to gain passage for him ans his sister (he broke her out of her prison and is wanted with her) Characters that wouldn't normally fit together but do only because of the protective nature of the Captain. he often has to protect his crew from each other. If I've missed anything guy's let me know

Actually I have seen that and the movie. I am not saying that it is not good, I am just saying that it is not as good as people say it is. And as I already said, this is my opinion, you don't have to agree with it. @beatboks: .... I find that hard to believe because not all the shows even aired. I also find it hard to believe that someone who did not find the show to be "that good" would go out of his way to rent or buy the necessary DVDs to catch a good portion of the show that never made it to the general viewing public. And you are right, I never rented the DVDs because here they showed all the episodes on TVs IIRC, (it has been a while since then). As for the movie, my brother rented it, not me

I agree with Firefly, though it would probably have helped if Fox had aired the episodes in order.
Also for the list: John Doe (loved the concept of a man who knows everything except who he actually is) Journeyman (damn you writer's strike)

As terrible as Justice League Unlimited sucked, I just liked there being a huge JL tv show. It was just so diverse.

I agree with the Arrested Development. I watched a few episodes on the first season after they already canceled it and I could not figure out how it got canceled in the first place. It baffles the mind.

Yeah, it's pretty terrible that it got cancelled (there's something terribly fucking wrong when Family Guy is still on TV but Arrested Development is not), but I'm at least very happy that they managed to wrap up the story in the time that they had-there's nothing worse than watching a show you love and being left hanging because it got cancelled.
Plus, hey, there might be a movie if it ever gets off the ground and that'd be swell.

Is that a show that would even need a movie?
I can understand Firefly because their story never finished but as you said, AD did manage to wrap up their story before cancellation.

Need? Nah, no need for the movie, honestly. But hell, if they're going to make a big, feature length sendoff for AD, you can bet I'll be in line.

Lol I admit that I would be as well.
But if I had to choose between AD and Serenity 2.... Well I will be breaking out my gorram browncoat.
