Geoff Johns recently announced on his Twitter that he is set to start work on Aquaman sometime this year. Here's what he said: So, what do you think about this move? Is it time that Aquaman got some sort of fresh makeover? Is Johns the right guy for it? Comment below!

Good, he needs some good stories. I always saw a potential in Aquaman, but nothing happened with it. I think Geoff can do a good job there.

I think Johns could do wonders for Aquaman, really.

I'll enjoy "Rebirth" and not care about the 4214253 retcons.

I think he'd probably focus on Aqualad for a short while.

His work on Aquaman during Brightest Day has been some of the story's best stuff IMHO. Looking forward to this.

Johns does a pretty lousy job of following PAD's work.
I think the Aquaman arcs were far and away the best part of Brightest Day and I might even buy an Aquaman book but I don't expect it to be very good. In fact, I think Johns has gotten progressively worse with time.
JSA and Flash were solid. There is very little you can complain about in those runs.
Teen Titans missed the personality of several characters (notably Impulse). Green Lantern features a static hero (who lost all his personality and character development from when he was the Spectre) and a retcon a minute.
Blackest Night was bleh. Brightest Day and Flash have been meh.
Expect to see the same old stuff with Aquaman. He'll spout his designated tagline, he'll take 8 issues to tell a 1 issue story, his arch enemy will get a power boost, it will be revealed that Aquaman's motivation comes from his parents dying, etc.

To be fair, unlike Barry, Aquaman does have reasons to bitch about his life (the importance of which I agree is wastly overrated), so there isn't really a point in retconing it.
His arch nemesis though... Does anyone here get the point of Black Manta? I mean really, I'd rather they just stick with Ocean Master as the villain. At least he has character other than "Bat-shit homicidal maniac. Also Black."

So Aquaman is going to be the only relevant super-hero now?

So Aquaman is going to be the only relevant super-hero now? Has that ever happened? I think Hal and Barry will still be Johns' babies.

When Geoff writes Hal, he makes him the only character that matters in the entire DC universe.
