No doubt he has assorted acts of heroics (which I mention when speaking of those runs), I'm just saying he definitely takes a huge step later in the series, especially the final issue when he teams-up with Spider-Man/Thing/etc. I love the earlier Kelly stuff when he flips out over people saying he's good or a hero. He had so much depth, and now....Well, the OP says it all.

That's what separates the Deadpool of old to the one now. In the right hands, he has such an emotional depth and sincerity to him he was a great character. Now, in the wrong hands, he's an idiot and a joke with multiple personalities.

Crom, we're well aware But what about points discussed in my article? Well, I can't say I agree. Because, with all due respect, I don't think he has any greatness to begin with. He's never been anything more then "meh" in anyway for me. There really wasn't anything special about him in my opinion.

How about this- what could happen to make you interested in the character or is that impossible?

I will say that I liked his Secret Invasion and Dark Reign tie-ins. It shows how effective a planner that Deadpool can be on his own like a good guy version of the Joker. Before when he was with Cable, it seemed like he was manipulated into doing good things by Cable which I also liked though mostly because I'm a fan of Cable.
I do agree that he is too comedic at times but I don't want to lose that aspect of him because I think it shows his descent into further madness. Perhaps they need a stable foil like Cable who could be a mirror to show him his current state. Maybe Wolverine could fill this void?
Am I off base here?

Forgive my ignorance but i have a question. How Joe Kelly writes about deadpool any different than Way. I admit i don't read Way's run on DP( except the one issue that spidey made his appearance...lol ), but seeing scans and hearing the things you guys say, he seemed exactly the same, just like Joe wrote him in the Amazing Spider-man #611. Again, forgive my ignorance, i just want to know. =]

Give deadpool to loeb,he's good at writing joke comics(superman/batman,emperor joker),in that way loeb has a job and nobody has to take him seriously.

Dedman, yes, you're off base. LOL The T-Bolts Dark Reign tie-in was co-written by Diggle, so that's why some of those issues were okay. As for Secret Invasion...Really? His Skrull replicas were unstoppable due to "madness?" He's nothing like the Joker and Way has thrown his personality off the deep end.
Spidey, ....I thought I pretty much explained why I don't like Way's version in the entire article??? Obviously Kelly has issues has that are humor based, but you can't compare ONE recent issue he was allowed to write in ASM to an entire run he was given time to work with.

And even so, ASM 611 was actually hilarious.

Loved the article. Not a big DP fan -- even at his best, but I respect his personality and motives, or, at least I did back when Nicieza or Kelly were writing.

k4tz: I guess you misunderstood my question. I did not ask you, why you hate Way's writing on DP. I already know. I was just curious, how you like Kelly, more as a DP writer, since reading ASM 611, his writing was a bit similar to Way's. =]

I can't say I even find him funny in the few issues I've read from his current run, either. That meat suit joke got old fast.
And throwing pianos at Wolverine while running away throughout the fight didn't help, either.

I was just curious, how you like Kelly, more as a DP writer, since reading ASM 611, his writing was a bit similar to Way's. =] I did answer part of that in my previous reply. You can't determine Kelly's work/portayal on Deadpool when he's given literally ONE issue of ASM to work with and it's clearly meant to be comedic. Even then, that issue made me laugh far more than any of Way's work (which I'll confess does make me laugh at times). Kelly had the opportunity to write Deadpool in over 30 issues of his self-titled series. So, if you want to understand what I'm talking about, read some of that, and not just ONE issue in a completely different title where Deadpool has a bit part that is intended to be funny. Also, this ENTIRE paragraph in my article talks about why I liked Kelly's work: Morph- The Wolverine VS Deadpool encounter made me laugh while facepalming.

I know that one issue is not really enough to judge a writer. But i just thought that this was his way of writing DP. But i was not sure, so that's why i have even asked you.... I have read that part of your post but i still wanted to be sure.... =] Anyway, thanks. I think i would check the issues he wrote for DP. =]

You can just admit you didn't read the article Making Deadpool funny and joking around isn't something Way invented. Deadpool has been funny since day one. Way just takes it in a ridiculous direction with Wade's antics and motives, Kelly doesn't.

I agree with you. Also, Cable fixed some of Deadpool's issues in the Cable and Deadpool run.

Cable and Deadpool is a critical read for any Cable or Deadpool fan, IMO. I completely agree. Cable had some incredible moments and Deadpool had some moments where he was not a Squirrel Girl with a dick.
