What exactly Marvel's "next big thing," 'Vengeance' is has been revealed in Marvel's live blog today. The series' creative team will consist of Joe Casey on wordplay and Nick Dragotta on scribbles. Vengeance's editor, Tom Brennan, gave us some good information on what exactly we should expect. Here are some bits and pieces:

'Vengeance' will start in July and run for 6 issues. It seems like it will focus on a younger generation of villains and how they were influenced by the classic Marvel villain greats. Here are the 6 beautiful covers, each featuring a different villain!

The villains on the covers of the series aren't all in the "prime state of super villainery."
There's a new generation of villains coming up in the Marvel Universe that looked to these guys.
wanted to do a series that focused on the villains, "and naturally when it comes to pure evil Joe Casey comes to mind." they're exploring the nature of evil in the Marvel Universe, which has always been more complex than you might see in other comics. Marvel villains have strong motivations.

The classic Marvel villains they're using and where they're at at the moment provides a throughline and a backdrop for the story. They reflect how fluid the Marvel Universe is, and how it evolves. The reaction of the young characters to the villains is the driving force.
