So um, this Serpent is supposed to be the god of fear.... Has he actually done anything fear related yet? I mean, going round dispensing big ass hammers is not a fear god's usual MO, methinks.

He just appeared and looks like he is weak right now anyway. Oh and I do not remember him being called the god of fear. I remember him being called Father, All-Father, and The Serpent.

If he's not the god of fear., where is all the fear coming from?

If he's not the god of fear., where is all the fear coming from? It may be coming from him but that does not mean he is the god of fear. It could just be one tool he uses. Besides, I am not saying he is not the god of fear either. I am just saying that I do not remember him being called that.

He is the true All-Father.

Yeah, now that I think about it, every time I heard him called god of fear it was from a secondary source, not the comic itself. But still, I would expect him to have something to do with it.

I think he does have something to do with the panic and fear sweeping the Marvel Earth. Maybe he has everything to do with it even. But again, that does not mean he is the actual god of fear. It could just be one of the tools he prefers to use when taking over a world.
On a related note to the story arc, I wonder how much of Odin's past is a lie. Especially with his father. But as I recall, there were other Asgardians around at the time of his father's death.

Hm, something I just noticed, anyone see a pattern between what they're doing to Odin and what they did to Xavier a few years ago, both done by Fraction if I'm not mistaken. Does the guy have something against father figures?

The Xavier degradation was inititated by Brubaker with Deadly Genesis. Fraction hasn't really used Charles all that much.

Doesn't take much away from your point about Odin, though.

Unfortunately. I somewhat like where this event is going, but the fact that issue 1 opened up completely raping several characters kinda puts me off.
If Odin was in DC, he'd be a guardian.

LOL. Odin still has a long way to go in order to reach the level of stupidity the Guardians have demonstrated, time and again.

Give it some time. In a few year they'll learn of a prophecy that Thor and Serpent need to unite along with the God of anger, greed, hope, compassion and love in order to battle Hela's new master of death, and Odin will be like "Unite with them? NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" and then he'll condemn the universe to die in order to kill death or something. And Thor will be like "Dude, dad, fuck you already."

Hahaha. Don't forget how everything will be undone by the entity of life.

And in the end they'll all be like "Alright Odin, what did we learn today?" And Odin will be like "Huh? I'm sorry, I wasn't listening. No go get me some mead, bitches."

The sad thing about it is that things are likely to end that way.
