I think that (sc-fi gun) was the plan all along, Marvel just realised how profitable that story could turn out to be and the gamble payed off, with one of the best runs in recent memory. It received so much attention and made most of the national news networks with coverage like "THE DEATH OF AN ICON!" and such. Agreed, Dane. Doctor Doom's plot gun should be erased, lol. I've heard. I wasn't reading comics at the time (I had stopped for several years in a row), but I researched the reaction while I was reading Bru's run on Cap.

Agreed on both accounts. My disdain for the idea is the reason I have avoided to read Captain America Reborn to this very day, despite being an avid admirer of Bru's work in general, and his Captain America, in particular. Morrison handled Batman in pretty much the same manner. Gun of doom check Time travel check.

Morrison handled Batman in pretty much the same manner. Gun of doom check Time travel check. Morrison killing Batman with the OE gave him a free pass to do anything he liked, seeing that the Effect had done things like that before. It's disappointing, seeing that it undid his seeming death, but the whole explanation holds up to the point where I don't have to shake my head in disbelief and frustration. Far more feasible than Zola, and Red Skull having a Doom created gun that they gave to Sharon "I'm useless" Carter.

Honestlly, I don't see how this debate even lasted this long. Deathstroke has beaten the crap out of Batman himself multiple times. I usually try to avoid ABC logic, but I fail to see how Cap could beat a guy that Wayne can't beat.

Slade for the win. Although I think the fight would be hard (because Cap would be a tougher fight than Batman), I think Slade can secure a win thanks to his stats being higher than Caps across the board. Although I think Cap has a slight advantage in skill, I don't think it tips the balance sufficiently.

I wish Morph was still around because he once made a very convincing case that while Deathstroke was the faster, Captain America was physically stronger. In his usual Morph manner, he had many examples to support his case. Were I welcome on the Vine, I would find it.

There is a scan where Deathstroke is using a massive chain to pull an object (a ship?) from a body of water and it mentions his strength is approx 100 times that of a normal man. This would mean he can lift 10 tonnes so he would be similar strength to Spider-Man. That scan has been shown on the Vine. I'll see If I can find it.

Looks like you posted in the thread. www.comicvine.com/forums/battles/7/deathstroke-vs-captain-america/15845/?page=28I would like to rate all of these strength feats for Cap.

It was from an Elseworld and it was told as a fairy tale, so it has two credibility strikes against it right off the bat. Then it was revealed at the end of the issue that it was told from Deathstroke himself to comfort some kids or whatever in this future so strike number three for self ego stroking lol. Early issue of Deathstroke volume 1. I read it at Morph's recommendation and that was the super strength Deathstroke scan that was popular to use up until I revealed it for what it was.
