OK aside from Street levelers I love my mystics. On most sites it never seems to work to have separate forums or threads for each so how about one for all DCU magic users (asid obviosly from Spectre who's already had some chat)

The magical side of the two Major companies always gets the shaft and stuck with the sorcerer's paradox

Ragman is pretty cool. I want to see more from him. I'd like to see the shadow pact return. I thought the team was a great concept, but then I was a huge Defenders fan too. Also loved Blue Devil

I mean seriously, when was the last time we actually saw the magic side rightfully kicking the ass of everything it likely should be able to.

Phantom Stranger is a favorite of mine actually... though he doesnt fight much... I actually have a few issues where he gets down My favorite story of the Stranger is without doubt the 1987 mini in which he lost his powers because he chose to interfere (which wasn't his "role"). He ended up fighting Eclipso and his lackies with mere mortal magic until the faith of the the people watching him fight for them restored his powers.

Dr. Fate will always be one of my favorites. I just hope the new Kent Nelson can be as good as the original...

I am indeed a huge fan of Blue Devil. You know the weird thing, though it irritated me at the time I really miss the weirdness magnet thing that was a part of his old series under Cohn when the House of weirdness was making regular appearances. At the time I hated it.

Phantom Stranger was always interesting to me. I really like his character but he gets downplayed a lot imo in more recent stories.

Dr. Fate will always be one of my favorites. I just hope the new Kent Nelson can be as good as the original... I think the new Kent can be good. The recent turn in JSA to get him up to speed quicker (i.e helmet gives the spells needed etc) is a good start. I really believe that since the original the big mistake they always make with Fate is overplaying the novice angle for too long. To be honest I'd like to see him less of a major reality warper, and more a true magic user. Sometimes the ultra high power levels get tiresome. I mean how many times can you have a team member conveniently not around when facing a small threat or someone like Jakeem Thunder knocked out before he can say the magic word and unleash the gin.

Phantom Stranger was always interesting to me. I really like his character but he gets downplayed a lot imo in more recent stories. I'm a firm believer that the stranger plays best when he fills his "assigned role". He's meant to be the presences agent of hope in much the way that the spectre is his agent of vengeance. As such he's more omniscient than omnipotent and is supposed to appear to all in their hour of greatest need, to help them choose the right path. So they still have free will but with his all knowing wisdom he can advise the better path. The best example I can think of off the Stranger doing this was in Hell blazer. After Johnny had tricked that demon by purging a part of his soul (the evil part) and attaching it to someone he'd done a deal with so that he "smelled" like Constantine to the demon so he would go ahead with the deal for the children's souls (forget the issue at the moment). Now having a clean soul John could choose any path and the Stranger appeared to help him find his way back to the right one. This was IMO one of the Strangers more "powerful" (for want of a better word) showings 9powerful in a character way obviously not power way)

I don't know about anyone else but I'd love to see an anthology title from DC or Marvel featuring their respective mystics. It's quite evident that most can't gain the sales needed on their own. But if for example DC had a title that had stories of Shadow pact and Sentinels of magic rotating, as well as Spectre and Dr Fate altenately and maybe a third and even fourth story that again would rotate between certain characters. Obviously longer story arks would be done in sequence, But in a book like that where mystic fans get all their fix in one I believe the sales would support. Most fans of a given magic charactere might not specifically buy another but probably wouldn't mind reading it with their fav's

I began reading the magical world with JSA: The Lightning Saga. From that I read Superman: Lightning Strikes Twice. From that Day of Vengeance. Shadowpact. Reign in Hell. Etc. I love the magical world of DC. My second favourite character is Captain Marvel. So that shows something towards it.

I read Countdown to Mystery so am good with Kent Nelson. I was gutted when I heard the writer died. R.I.P Steve Gerber. He was taken over by Sturges who is a great writer.
