Is there anything specific you'd like to see him direct?

How about Star Trek 2 first.

Don't insult the man just because he never learned to count.

Lol I said 3 because he is already on 2 and I know it will be awesome. But since there is no talk of a 3, I know I want him on it.

I loved Star Trek, but I can't say I was a fan of Cloverfield...at all.

I loved Star Trek, but I can't say I was a fan of Cloverfield...at all. I liked it okay. The documentary thing was still pretty big when it was made. I just did not like that SPOILEREveryone died. I am Mr. Happy Ending.

I like J.J. Abrams. Thought he did a great job with Star Trek and with the television show Alias.
My personal favorite director is Michael Mann. He directed my all-time favorite movie Heat, as well as Collateral, Miami Vice, Public Enemies, Last of the Mohicans and several others.

Haven't seen Miami Vice and Public Enemies, I liked LotM, I really liked Collateral, and Heat makes my top 100 films.

If you liked Heat and Collateral, definitely check out Miami Vice and Public Enemies. Miami Vice was widely panned by critics, more so than any other Mann film, but since you like Heat and Collateral I think you understand how much character development Mann puts in to his films. Everyone I know that liked Collateral liked Miami Vice and the opposite is true. Public Enemies has some pretty great shoot out scenes like Heat, but they are more accurate to the period the movie is set in obviously. In any case, I think both are definitely worth your time IMO. Character development + realistic action + compelling stories = WIN.

Both have been on my mind, but it didn't happen until now. I have a pretty long list with films I'd like to watch, but I get lazy all the time. I'll try to squeeze them in, since I have enjoyed all of Mann's films that I've watched, thus far.

I liked Collateral. That was good. I'm a big fan of Tom Cruise.

Heat and Collateral are both in my Top 10 movies of all time. Miami Vice is in the Top 20. I liked Collateral. That was good. I'm a big fan of Tom Cruise. While I think he's a wierdo, I do like a lot of his films. Collateral is his best IMO and I love the fact that it was a very different character for him.

This is always a good conversation starter... Thoughts on Michael Bay? He's a jackass, but I do tend to enjoy his movies. Before anyone jumps all over me though, I realize they are not great movies. I just happen to enjoy them.
