I picked it up last night and played through the first stage, and I remember it being a fucking blast. I say "I remember" because I was kinda drunk, so I'm going to start from the beginning again today.

Honestly, I just want it for Horde 2.0 and maybe a bit of beast mode. I loved, and I mean LOVED, the first Gears...but the second just felt like more of the same and the story let me down.

Watch the gamespot and ign video reviews, and all worries regarding the campaign mode will be comfortably laid to rest.
Horde Mode 2.0 looks awesome with the upgrades and stuff you can do, same with Beast Mode.

I watched them days ago, silly. The guy in the IGN review basically confirms "Hey, it's more of the same. But if you like it, you're going to really like it." GoW reached a point where I really just care about Horde and don't give a damn about the campaign anymore.

He also said the GoW3 campaign is by far "head and shoulders above" the previous games, and it is a great story.

Also said a lot of the dialogue is cringe worthy I just don't care about the franchise anymore. The only reason I want it is the upgrades they've made to Horde (defenses, bosses @ each 10th round). So as is, it's totally not worth the full price if that's the only thing I really want, especially while I'm playing other games and stuff like Rage/Batman: AC are right around the corner.

Now you're just mixing videos and mixing sentences.
He said there are some corny story telling moments.
And I believe it was actually in the other video that he said Cole has some cringe worthy dialogue.
But I guess you can just pick and choose which moments in the videos you actually want to hear and remember.

Your point? I said IGN review then included a remark by another editor? Who gives a fuck, nitpicker They were both remarks about the campaign, and odds are I'd agree with them. I'm not saying it's a bad game, I'm saying I'm uninterested in the plot and the ONLY reason I want the game is for horde. I'm glad you enjoy the campaign, but I have no desire to play it.

This has nothing to do with my opinion of the game, just that you are solely focusing on the small negative points they mentioned, and don't want to comment on the largely positive points they mentioned about the campaign.
Just seems like once you heard "much of the same" you're mind was made up, even though they said it is a great campaign and far and away the best of the three. I was just thinking maybe you should give it a chance after hearing the praise it's getting because you might enjoy it, if you were let down by the previous game's campaign.

I should probably add that I wasn't a big fan of Gears2 campaign either.

I'm not "soley focusing" on those small negative points, they were just in addition to the opinions I already had on the franchise. I don't care about the story, I don't want to feel like I'm playing "GoW 2.5," and honestly I'm only interested for Horde. Maybe if I wasn't busy with other games I'd certainly be more tempted to pick it up. It's a fun franchise, but it's really not something I have any desire to get into right now, let alone shell out an additional $60. (bought Thor/X-Men: FC on blu-ray, bought Dead Island, then Rage/Batman: AC are around the corner)

Why Gears 2.5?

I'll add this. I like Gears of War. I wouldn't own both games and STILL play Horde mode if I didn't. But it has reached a point where I need a break from it. It's too familiar/more of the same and I want something different. The exact same happened with Halo when Reach came out. Another game with stunning reviews, and I'm a massive Halo fanboy (midnight release for all titles, launch day for Halo Wars), but I passed on Reach. I played the single player demo and had the exact same feelings towards it (minus the plot, I'm way more interested in how the Halo-verse has unfolded). I'm sure it's a good game and I'll get around to it (especially since a friend recently lent me the game), but I'm just focused on other things and it's not really even in the back of my mind, tbh.

I completely agree with you last post, and I think it makes a lot of sense. Since you have been playing Horde mode this whole time, I can see why you need a break. Same exact thing with Halo for me. I didn't play ODST, I only played Reach once with a friend. I am thinking about picking up Halo CE Anniversary, but still undecided. But one thing is for sure....I will absolutely be getting Halo 4 next year.
Oh yeah, same thing with CoD as well. Played MW1, didn't play WaW, played MW2, didn't play Black Ops. I will be getting MW3, though.

There was such a bad interview with the developers for Halo 4. When asked what fans can expect to see and all that, their response was something like "another great story with the Master Chief!" lol, thanks for the details.

Lol. I think it is so far away still they probably can't even say much because they don't have much to comment on.

No I've only played campaign so far. No online.
You can play Horde Mode and Beast mode online, right?
