Here we can discuss the entire game history of the Diablo series. The story, favorite characters, hopes and expectations for the new game, anything Diablo related. The one that started it all: Diablo 1Sorcerer, Warrior, and Rogue The game that raised our expectations: Diablo 2/LoDAmazon, Assassin, Necromancer, Barbarian, Sorceress, Druid, and Paladin The game that is on the horizon: Diablo 3Wizard, Witch Doctor, Demon Hunter, Barbarian, and Monk In the first game, which I occasionally play to this day, I found the Warrior to be the easiest to play. Though I really do enjoy the higher level Sorcerer. The Rogue is just about worthless though at any level. From what I remember, only the hard core players used her. The second game is one I play all the time still. And I rock a Summonancer like nobody's business. Aside from the extreme simplicity of the game, it is still pretty fun and challenging. The third game is right around the corner and it looks awesome. Clean graphics, extreme character customization and and all new classes (save for the Barbarian of course). I personally am excited to see the Demon Hunter and the Monk. What about the rest of you Ledgers? Will the third installment make your shelf? How did/do you feel about the previous games?

I've never been a fan of the franchise. It never managed to hold my interest honestly. First one was the best thought, only one I found worth one run to finish.

Of course I have, I gave it a try with the expectations of it being like the first only better. But when I played it. It just didn't hold up in quality for me to keep playing.

How so? I ask simply because it is quite literally better in every way in relation to the first one. So if you liked the first one at least enough to call it okay, it should be expected that you should at least like the second one enough to play through all the way once.

See I don't thing the second one was better in every way. Not as a hard core RPG fan. The first one had much better atmosphere, some parts were genuinely impressively done like the butcher's entrance etc. The second 2 was just a mindless hack and slash with a story that was nothing if entirely throwaway.

Even if we include the gaming booklet stories from Diablo 1, the story is barely existent at all. That is the hack and slash RPG. Now I love the first game. One would have to to play it in todays gaming world. But there is not one single aspect of the game that is better than the sequel. The story has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on the game. The only quests that have any impact on the game at all is killing Lazarus and Diablo.
As far as impressively done, sure. The game was impressive for its time. But let us face the facts, the game was slow. Really slow. The gaming mechanics and the story had the depth of a spoon, leaving almost all of the story to the gaming booklet that came with the purchase.
I do not understand what was so great about Butcher's entrance. He stands at the back of his room, you open the door and he says "Ah, fresh meat" as he charges you. One liners are included in every single one of D2's bosses. What was great about his?

Loved D2/LoD. Orb Sorc was fun, but so was Hammerdin.
Not that excited for D3 tbh. I've watched some videos but I can't seem to get excited. I don't think the new classes look all that great. But I may have to watch some more vids on them.

What was great about his? because I was young, less bitter and cynical and the voice, playing it at 2am in the dark worked for what it was back then By the time I played D2 I'd completely outgrown the style and the only reason D1 I still like more is a combination of nostalgia and recognizing it for what it is

I just watched the Force guy's videos on the King Leoric fight for all 5 classes. A Barb just seems like a ton of fun. Massive cleave ftw. Not sure which one I'd want to start with. Maybe Barb then Wizard? Two classics.
Hmm idk. A Witch Doctor is basically a Necro, a Demon Hunter is basically an Amazon, a Monk I'm not sure, it may be like an Assassin, but I never played an Assassin.
What about you?

I think the DH is basically an Assassin/Amazon mix. The traps that you get basically scream Assassin.
Monk seems to take Assassin's H2H and mixes them with Paladin's aura stuff.
Yeah I thought Witch Doctor seemed very Necro.
Assassin was my second favorite class next to the Necro and I really liked the Amazon so I think Monk is a must have for me. The DH appeals to me for the Assassin/Amazon mix and the edgy fantasy look with the handgun-like crossbows.

You should give her a shot. She is a street leveler lover's wet dream in the Diablo world.
All her stuff is martial arts and traps with a bit in poison.

Diablo III looks pretty dope. Check out PsyStarcraft's YouTube, he did a video series of him playing Monk in the D3 beta.

Looks pretty awesome. I am not sure if anyone else has noticed this but Diablo 3 seems to have incorporated a ragdoll system in the monster deaths. At least for non-boss monsters. I first noticed it with some Barbarian beta videos. His crushing attacks make it really visible.
