I remember also viewing it as a stalemate at the time since they both took a round, Creator.

Yeah the sparring match is nothing to really scream about. And again, it is just a sparring match before a mission so neither is really fighting too hard. But I look at the moves chosen. An elbow to the back of the skull is several times more devastating than a throw on the back.

Shang has never defeated Iron Fist to my knowledge. There is a draw in the Master of Kung Fu comic (or was it Deadly Hands? I don't quite remember), but Danny certainly never lost in any of the classic issues, be it Marvel Premiere, Claremont's Iron Fist, or Power Man and Iron Fist.

I'm glad then that it never took place in Shangs own comic title.

Really though, if you took away all of Iron Fist's abilities and it was just a straight martial arts match restricted to the various forms of kung fu (so only Chinese fighting styles), who would come out on top?

I really haven't read enough from Shang-Chi to make that call. And it would also depend on if it was classic IF, or IIF.

Now I want to go out and get all the Shang-Chi appearances.

I actually intend to do that at some point.

I actually intend to do that at some point. He should not be too hard. I know he does not appear in much. Just his solo titles, Heroes for Hire and the odd guest appearance.

His old series was actually rather long running, but his appearances have become more scarce in the following decades.

I'm glad that it didn't take place in any comic book title. Looks like I'll have to and dig the comic out then. I'll look to get it next week. When I have it I'll post it in this thread.

It will have to be a digital photo rather than a scan.

I'm not being argumentative for the sake of it, I simply read the entirety of Danny's classic material very recently, so unless there was some annual/special issue that I missed, I can verify that it didn't happen in any of the series I mentioned above.

It sounds like you are. In fact it sounds a like you are just stopping short of calling me a liar. But that's just word play isn't it. I remember the fight sequence and Shangs own comments describing Dannys skills as amazing and almost being equal to his own. But for now it doesn't matter. I'll go photograph the comic in storage as it's become a bone of contention. I don't think it was in Dannys comic either. I am erring to a Marvel team up comic but I can't say for certain. I'll find out next week.

Danny first met Shang in Master of Kung Fu Annual # 1, then they met (and fought, against their will) in Deadly Hands of Kung Fu # 29, while acknowledging their first meeting in said annual. I actually just skimmed through the pages of Shang's appearances at CV, and he isn't even listed as having appeared in any of Iron Fist's series. Dunno, maybe I'm going senile.

I did not take your word about a fight that was supposed to have happened in a series that I read more recently than you have. You resorted in sarcasm. You could have simply said, "it's possible that the fight happened in some other series", and I would have conceded the point. I am sorry if my initial post offended you, but I perceived yours to be of poor taste, as well.
Take a picture, or post the scans whenever you can. Whether Danny can beat Shang or vice versa is of no interest to me. I lost my taste for it.

I personally just read all of Shang Chi's material and made proving grounds thread on CV for someone to prove to me that he's any better than I think he is. I also finally got read the issue where he fights Midnight Sun that so many of his fans seem to brag about but it's not as impressive as it was suggested to be before. I honestly can't believe I let people tell me he was better than Daredevil & Iron Fist.
