Power Grids: Intelligence This is the grid discussion based on Intelligence feats. Factors to take in to account when ranking Intelligence include the characters raw intelligence, intelligence in one area of knowledge vs multiple areas and speed of learning. If a character has an ability that makes them smarter in 1 area (like Forge with Inventing or Cypher with Languages) then please provide a second rating for the character but add a note i.e. Forge 12 / 15 (Inventing). Use the attachment as a guideline for ranking characters. I'll start the ball rolling Rhino 1 Living Tribunal 30 Attachments:

I think if we could place Reed, that would help place others. Any Reed experts out there?

So should we start with the Intelligencia?

Not knowing much about Reed, I'd say he somewhere between 16 and 20. Could be way off, but that's the best I got.

What about people with cosmic awareness? Do they count or is cosmic awareness considered intelligence. I mean, when we got people like Silver Surfer doin' stuff, most are like, "okay, this dude is pretty smart." Then we got people like Mar-Vell out there, and we're like "okay, that wasn't the smartest thing he coulda done." Case by case or is there a general area for people with that ability?

It is not people with cosmic awareness. It is just a ranking title. Another way of saying, "Really goddamn smart". Cosmic generally is associated with "big" aside from its literal meaning.

This is a very hard one to guage IMO. Maybe once we get some big names placed I'll feel more comfortable giving input.

I'm not confused by the title for the list here, I'm more interested in how people with Cosmic Awareness would actually be placed, because being cosmically aware is by definition having inert knowledge of things in the universe. When Mar-Vell first got it, it was a big deal about how he had that "oneness" with everything, and Silver Surfer uses that same oneness to analyze life on like a subatomic scale or some super-sciencey thing like that. My question is having cosmic awareness something that should automatically place people with it on a certain level, or should it not be looked at as a form of intelligence for this ranking system?

Ah I see. Your first post started with a question I misinterpreted as you thinking Cosmic tiers meant Cosmic Aware tiers.

Oh dang, it did. I was initially writing out a question, but I think my brain moved faster than my typing so it came off like that.

I really don't think Reed's Overall Intelligence is greater than Lex Luthor's

After thinking about it some more, I think Reed would be a Meta Genius. 19 or 20. Anyone disagree? Keep in mind, you guys probably know more about Reed than I do.

I would but I know for a fact that Reed has multiple areas of expertise. Plus he can alter his brain to adjust his intelligence into other areas. Like when he boosted one area of his brain to be on Stark's level for engineering, just to see what it was like.

Looking at the ranking system I'd say Reed is around level 18.

I could be totally off-base here but I think Lex is very strong in some areas of intelligence that Reed isn't necessarily strong in. Lex is far more intelligent when it comes to reading and manipulating people, knowing how they will react to a certain situation and planning for it. He also is a better planner and schemer, whereas Reed is stronger in pure mathematical and scientific areas.
That's just my opinion, if you disagree I'll hear your argument.

I will give you that on Lex's manipulative skill and ability to read people. The normal day-to-day interaction often escaped Reed. But Reed is Mr. Planning. Almost every issue he would invent a plot device that would be a result of planning and he does most of this on the fly.
Now, would I say that he is a master strategist? Yes but not on the level of some. I think Lex and Bruce have him beat on strategy as well. Stark was able to check Reed in multiple games of chess without Reed even being aware of it until it happened. But then again, Reed can cheat because of his power. If he needs to learn something that is beyond his brain's normal intellect capabilities, he changes his brain and presto, he knows just about all there is to know about example A.
