Pikachu is a top tier in Smash 64, probably the most versatile character, and the best character in the game. In Melee, Pikachu is middle tier at best. Not much of a great metagame, and his usage in tourney-play was pretty low. Then Brawl, I'd say Pikachu can possibly be high tier depending on the player and some techniques that were devised into his metagame as more things were being discovered, like the up + B agility technique for combat/maneuvering.
Beak, I used to go to tourneys in SoCal, and NorCal. The community is awesome.

I have put so many hours in the Smash series that I imagine if I put them to productive use, I probably could have gone into space or invented something that would have made me rich. My brothers and I (total: four) have been with the series since the beginning and it's no doubt our go-to multiplayer game. I remember when we got Brawl on day 1-we put eleven consecutive hours into the multiplayer. Good times.
We don't play it so much anymore, although two of my brothers were way into the online competetive scene over wifi (we blows my mind since Brawl is unplayable to me online). Actually, one of them is getting back into it, and it's pretty great/interesting to hear his thoughts and rants on the hardcore scene/balance issues. Despite the changes made in Brawl that made it a lot more "friendly" I still enjoyed it a great deal. I can't decide if I like it more than Melee (although I have many more fond memories with Melee).
I think it's safe to say that the Smash series if are my favourite crossover in gaming.

I like Kirby in the game series too... That is true. Kirby has always been the one I used often in every installment.

The king of Smash 64. He's unbeatable in it, period. And he's one of the best Melee players. He's retired from Melee though. He hates Brawl like the rest of us.

Lol, Lubre. They were all tourney matches. SSB64 has ridiculous hitstun so if you get caught in a combo by Isai, you're pretty much done unless he messes up which is highly unlikely. That's where the phrase "don't get hit" originated from.
As for Brawl, it's a fun game. Playing it with friends is cool, but it's not really a serious fighting game, like Melee, Street Fighter, Tekken etc. I don't necessarily hate it, just the mechanics of the game for competitive play.

I wish there was some way to get us together for a tourney, but alas we are too diverse in our locations.
