All this hype about Ultimate Marvel makes me wanna play, so I'mma 'bout to pop in the vanilla. Anyone who's up for it should hit me up on PSN. It's still LegendaryDJ. Other than that, this guy has been uploading the archived streams of Ultimate on youtube so check that out if you're curious about the various character changes. Ryu is lookin' mighty fine with the new moves they gave him.

awesome find,Nexus, the gameplay looks great i found some news about this game that makes me a little disapointed though Famistu magazine which talks about some of the extras Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 will offer people via DLC. Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 won’t be out until November, but Capcom is already cracking on downloadable content plans. Players will be able to purchase arrange costumes and new modes from PlayStation Network and the Xbox Live Marketplace. According to Famitsu, one new mode players will be able to add is unlimited hyper combo mode. Pricing for this mode has not been announced. This unlimited hyper gauge option sounds similar to the Event Modes that were unlocked in MvC3 every Tuesday that pitted you against various CPU opponents that had unique abilities. Come on Capcom,we can already put unlimited hyper combo in the training mode....unless....oh no....i cant believe they would do something like that

Well....since Iron Fist, Nova, and Doctor Strange are going to be in Ultimate MvC3....I may have to actually buy this one. Them plus Thor =4/5 of my 5 fav characters.

Yeah, I hear you on that Lubre, which is exactly why I'm not getting that particular thing. Unlimited hypers? I'll take training mode please. Can even set it up for two players to do it, so it is what it is. As far as all the extras and gimmicks companies do when trying to expand the life of a game, I've never been one to care much at all, because all they really are is just...well, they're just extras an' gimmicks. Nice to have for the sake of having it, but why bother? I already got the game, and that's the only thing I cared about getting.
I did love the event mode challenges though. I thought they were a nice extra to give a crazy difficult single player experience, and it's fun thinking teams to try and build to get around 'em, so kudos to them for that.
Ckal, I'mma but it like this. Nova's in the game. It's a fun game. Nova's in the game. You should get the game. I'm sorry, I'm just too hype for that guy. I'mma make an Annihilation/Conquest team with him, Kl'rt, an' Rocky. Too cool.
But anyway, it is a fun game over all. Crazy action, flashing lights, seizure inducing madness that's just as much fun to watch as it is to play. If you got some friends who like comics and/or fighting games then it'd be great to play with them. I will say that when you first play it, you'll often feel like everything in this game makes absolutely no sense, but after a bit of effort, you'll adjust accordingly, an' it'll be a piece of cake.

Is there any point to buy it if you are just going to play it by yourself?

Yeah, that's what I do. I spend most of my time playing online, and training to get better at playing online. There's always plenty of competition out there. Best feeling in the world is when you fight someone, win, and the other guy rage-quits. That's how you know you've come far. Then you run into a guy who's infinitely better than you, and you're like "dang, I suck so bad at this game." It's a real roller coaster like experience. Thankfully Capcom said they're fixing some of the online issues the first version had so I'm looking forward to that.

I wouldn't be playing it online. What I did with MK9 was the story mode once, a few challenges, and just playing arcade mode, random fights, and practicing a bit.

Ah, then I can safely say, this would probably not be the type of game that would give you any long lasting pleasure, unless you really, really enjoy fighting against the computer, and hey before online mode became a thing, that was all I did with my fighting games, and I had fun for years on end just doing that, but for most people, that gets old real quick. Fighting games aren't really that concerned with providing a real in depth single player experience. Very rarely will you get a major story mode like what happened with MK9.

I pretty much just buy fighting games to to just fight anyways. Computer or not its not a big deal really. Plus I would be obsessed with playing as Marvel characters probably. MK9 had a good story mode with and unbelievably frustrating boss, but I did like how it forced you to play as all the characters.
How hard is this game to just pick up and play? Is it hard to pull off somewhat rewarding combos? Or would it be something like I have to practice a lot to do anything more than punch punch kick combo?

How hard is this game to just pick up and play? Is it hard to pull off somewhat rewarding combos? Or would it be something like I have to practice a lot to do anything more than punch punch kick combo? Well that's the interesting thing about MvC. Yeah, it's easy, real easy to pick up, mash some buttons, an' see your guy do something. When I first picked up the game, I was being rewarded with doing some things that I thought were pretty spectacular, but then along the lines you start learning some things. The game's got this mission mode thing which is a mode that tells you, "these are some combos this character can do. Do them." And after you do some of them, get a taste of how crucial little things like timing is--that's when you learn how combo-centric the game really is. Everything about it is learning, testing, and implementing different ways for your guy to go about beating up the other guy before he can do something to fight back. The game encourages really going into training mode and coming up with your own stuff, and the good thing about that is with the internet, people show off the different combos and things they've done to the world and teach others how to do it. Naturally, the more popular characters in the game will have more guys giving tutorial vids on them. Then with practice, and hard work, you try out the combos in a battle, and then once you land them consistently, get past your opponent's defenses, and really do your thing, you get a feeling of accomplishment. Like right now, I'm learning how to play as Dormammu, and I found some guy on youtube put together a very nice tutorial vid on some of the good things he can do. So yeah, I'd say it's fun to mess around with just to see what all your favorite characters can do. To answer your questions more directly, yes to all three. It's not that hard to pick up and play, but it may seem hard to get really good at it all around, and practice mode may quickly become your best friend.

I see. Thanks for the details nexus. I'll probably be picking this up if I have the time because of Doc Strange, Nova, and Iron Fist being additions to the game.
Would be cool if they had some good DLC.
