THE NEW HEROES FOR HIREIf anyone was unaware I am a huge fan of the Heroes for Hire. In fact I am a fan of team books in general. But now that the Avengers and X-men have failed to do it for me I have to seek other teams to give me the same feeling. Now, the Heroes for Hire are returning with a roster that consists of Ghost Rider,Iron Fist,Elektra,Moon Knight, and the Punisher..a team that actually fits well together. However that begs the question what happened to the old Heroes for Hire? If you recall the Heroes for Hire disbanded just before Secret Invasion, leaving it's members with no comic to call their own. They all appeared here and there but now most of them are key players in Shadowland much like everyone on this new roster. So what is in store for the closing of Shadowland? Will something go wrong with MIsty Knight and Colleen Wing? I mean why not have them on the team, Instead of Ghost Rider or Moon Knight? What happened to the Secret Avengers? Why isn't Moon Knight one of them anymore? Or is he on both teams? My problem here is exposure. It seems that Marvel does all they can to promote lame characters like Deadpool and Luke Cage but then good characters like Misty and Colleen are left blowing in the wind. Also, here's a thought. You know what would be a good idea for this? Why not bring Echo back for this? Put her on the team. She could use the exposure? Hell, is she even still alive? Doesn't it seem odd that a character who fought with the Avengers in SI just up and disappeared with no mention of where she went? I guess I will have to wait until Shadowland is through or this book comes out to know what's going on but I am still excited for this team. I'm glad that Frank is back to normal and I can't wait to see how this will play out. I'm glad Elektra is on the team and that Marvel is bringing her back into the mix. Elektra hasn't done much in a long time. I was glad to see her in Fall of the Hulks and Dark Reign. I can't wait to see how this team interacts. One thing that kind of weirds me out about this title though is it's being written by Andy Lanning and Dan Abnett. If you aren't familiar with their work that have done little to know street leveler work. Most of their work deals with the cosmic kind. However I haven't read anything from them yet that wasn't every good.In fact i've read Guardians of the Galaxy and it's a very good and dynamic team book. ABOVE IS AN BLOG I WROTE Has anyone read issue #1 or want to speak on Heroes for Hire overall?

Okay so...those are Marvel Knights related characters but...why would Ghost Rider or the Punisher do anything for money?
I mean, don't get me wrong. I'd MUCH rather read a story with Ghost Rider, the Punisher, Elektra and Moon Knight than one with Luke Cage, Misty Knight and Shang Chi but I just question the character motivation here.
If some I trust says it is good, it could definately be worth my money, though, as Ghost Rider is just about my favorite Marvel character.

The Heroes for Hire always had members who weren't really there for the money.Hercules,Black Knight,Shang Chi etc.I think the Punisher and GR are temporary. There is supposed to be a roster change in Februrary.Misty,Falcon, and Paladin are supposed to pop up.

Well yeah, but at the end of the day, Herc and Black Knight are still regular heroes. Ghost Rider's approach to fighting crime is "Get out of my way. I've got to save the planet. I don't have time for your Civil War because I have to kill Satan. I don't have time for your Secret Invasion because I'm too busy battling a guy who took over Heaven." What possible motivation could he have to team up with some guys he could kill with a glance to fight evils small enough that someone will pay him for it?

I agree he has no business being on this team.Maybe Marvel is trying to give him some popularity though because he's been absent for a little while. His role in Shadowland was pretty bogus too...

Yeah, everyone's reaction to that was "Why?" and then when I actually read it, I thought it was moronic and unnecessary.
Daniel Ketch of the 90s was totally a guy who could team up with Daredevil and Wolverine and Spider-Man all the time. Modern Ghost Rider? He's more powerful than the friggin Hulk. I half think his series ended because they ran out of things to put him up against.

Vance, the book is out already. And it's damn good. You need not complain about the potential absence of Misty, because not only is she present in the issue, but she is instrumental.
I particularly liked the fact that, so far, they are not a formal team (it also answers the question on if Moon Knight will be on both teams). I don't wish to spoil it, but that was an enjoyable element.
The art is top notch. Minor complaint includes some awkward facial expressions from Misty near the end, but that aside, it's nearly flawless.
The structure of the story is also pretty strong, separated in segments, and equally diversing the time between the various characters. It is difficult to comment more on that without spoiling anything, so I'll leave it at that.
To conclude, many characters that are not on the cover, do appear, and several characters that are on the cover do not appear at all.

I have a STRONG moral obligation to not buy comics that feature more popular characters on the cover that don't actually appear in this issue.
I don't think anyone should make money by advertising their product as something it isn't.

I have read it, and it is very good. No surprise there, because DnA are the minds behind it. I'm really looking forward to reading this series every month. Like Olorin already stated, several of these characters on the cover do not make an appearance in issue #1. I assume they will soon, but there really wasn't a reason for them all to appear yet. Plus, in a recent interview, DnA said the line up will be 'fluid:' Interview @caine- I agree. Ghost Rider had no business being a part of Shadowland whatsoever. If you have read Shadowland #5, read on. If you have not read Shadowland #5, or care about Ghost Rider spoilers, do not read on. Ghost Rider seems to have been killed by DD in the last issue. At least rendered useless for the time being. I wonder if this will be an important part of a story arc, or if he will just get his powers back like noting ever happened.

Marvel isn't going to kill off a character of Ghost Rider's following in that manner. Especially since HfH occurs after Shadowland, and we know the Rider will appear at some point.

I'm sure they could find a way back to him after DD's death, but I don't know much of GR. Does his flames always disappear when he is knocked out? But like I said, whatever it is, it is obviously only temporary.

When he fought World War Hulk, the flame ceased to burn for a little while when he seemed to beaten. Then he pretty much blew up a city block in his anger.
