Marvel has just unveiled a 4 part mini series coming out March 2011. It is called The Annihilators. Written by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, with pencils by Tan Eng Huat. These will be double issues (two stories, over 40 pages). The other story will center around Rocket Raccoon and Groot, with pencils by Timothy Green II, also being written by DnA. I could not possibly be more excited for this. An interesting exclusion to the lineup is Nova. I'm wondering if there may be any appearances from him, and what the repercussions of The Thanos Imperative are. Sound off below with your thoughts on this!

Looks like the Guardians of the Galaxy with a different name.

Well, at least now we can stop calling them the "Cosmic Avengers."

I preferred Cosmic Avengers to "Annihilators". They sound like the elite of Annihilus' minions now. But still, this is wonderful news. What everyone wished for, actually materialised and we'll see more of this team in action.

I didn't care for Cosmic Avengers because it just seemed like too cheesy of a name for some reason.

@nex- Cosmic Avengers just sorta made sense at the time since all of the other Avenger teams are named "blank Avengers."
@olorin- Even so, 'Annihilators' is a pretty accurate description of what this team will be doing/already does =P

I understand that, and quite frankly I thought the Avengers fever was/is a lil' cheesy, too. It's all good though.

Who will be the team leader? Vaughn?

The Surfer already lead a similar team (both Quasar, and Beta Ray Bill were members of that group, as well), during Cosmic Powers Unlimited.
I doubt he'll lead here, though. Abnett and Lanning stated leadership will result in internal conflict.

I hope Ronan is the leader, he has Gladiator under his foot already

I hope Ronan is the leader, he has Gladiator under his foot already The weakest guy of the group would be a little strange as the leader, but in the leadership and strategic department, Ronan would probably be best fit. So, I guess it wouldn't be that strange after all. Do you think Cosmo is going to be a part of the team, or do you think his role was mostly just to bring the Annihilators together to fulfill Peter Quill's dream and wishes?

I hope Cosmo ends up being the leader. That dawg really knows what's what. He's even got Quasar and the Surfer scared a bit. He's no joke. Didn't he take out the Cancerverse version of the Hulk? Beast mode.

I like Cosmo, he's great. It would be cool to see him as the leader, I agree. Yeah, he did. And extremely easily might I add:
