Well yeah, basically if it is uploaded to webspace that I own, it's mine. If he uploads it to youtube and embeds it remotely he can take it down whenever he wants. I'm not too fussy either way.

Well in legal terms, a file belongs to whoever has it on their filespace, whereever it is originally uploaded.

Good enough for me. I want to have stuff we put on our site be ours, whenever possible. He wants us to plug his shit, so I think we should get to own whatever he gives us for helping him out. It is an ownership thing but it is also to keep him from uploading the same thing on his site. I haven't explained that part to him yet but the idea behind it is to limit samey type content on different sites.

yeah well I'm not actually sure what his angle is there. What do you mean by 'plug his shit'?

Well as I said, he works for Bleeding Cool. His segments are called The Weekly Bleed on that site but we honestly get more views even now than he does... except when he has Toni Darling on his show, then he gets up to a few hundred views per day.
Toni has since moved to LA to be a professional cosplay model under contract, so she isn't on his show anymore and he needs to maintain a certain view count for whatever reason. So he is asking to do guest articles on our site and we do something like, "for more by Brian, see his videos on Bleeding Cool linkylinky."

Yeah, I can't say I'm cool with that. I'd rather see the site in a dumpster than just have us as a proxy for Bleeding Cool.

What a coincidence because it's basically in a dumpster already! I guess I didn't make myself as clear as I thought I did because being a proxy is not what I meant. You didn't seem to have a problem with me plugging cosplayer's own websites and when Static had his own blog, I am pretty sure I plugged that as well. Who would really want to be guest writers if we basically told them they have to keep their own work secret and if they want their own thing mentioned, they can kick rocks? Now I don't really care if you don't want this guy as a guest writer but I do think your reason given is shortsighted. Even CV lets Gregg plug his IGN work.

Honestly, I'm not that fussy. I wanted to make a place where we could write opinion articles when we wanted. We have that. I've never had the time to personally devote to building the community into 6 figures. It isn't in a great place activity-wise, but look at the people we had when we first made CL. Look at it now. A lot of people just moved on to other things and I can't really change that.
If you think his articles are good, go ahead with it.

This is kind of hypnotic if I'm honest.
