I can just imagine the board meeting.
"Hey so what's the official death list for Ultimatum again?"
"Uh, we got Wasp, Wolverine *snicker*, um, Spider-Ma-"
"WHAT NO WHAT ARE YOU WHAT ARE YOU CRAZY?"
"It's Ultimatum! Everybody dies right!?"
"FUCK THAT YOU DON'T KILL SPIDER-MAN IN A MINI"
"Fine jesus! I'll take him off! God."
"Okay, keep going."
"Uh, Cyclops, Dr. Doom, Darede-"
"GUYS I JUST HAD A GREAT IDEA WE'LL KILL SPIDER-MAN IT'LL SELL LOTS"
and that's the marvel creative process.
I know I'm a bad person.

How is killing off an ultimate version of a character "groundbreaking?"

How is killing off an ultimate version of a character "groundbreaking?" Maybe they just think Ultimate Spider-Man is more popular than 616 Spider-Man. Maybe they think that since they killed nearly everyone else in Ultimatum, that Spider-Man would be the real shocker if they did it months after the kill-fest.

Not much of a shocker when they tell us before hand.

Not much of a shocker when they tell us before hand. Well, they thought it would be groundbreaking to kill an alt universe character after all so it seems like their logic is skewed.

Not much of a shocker when they tell us before hand. LOL. It does seem to defeat the purpose. As with all current SpiderMan stories, I will remain skeptical and have somewhat low expectations until I read it and then make my consensus.

You can't say they kill him off right after Ultimatum when there have been 15 issues published under the Ultimate Comics imprint and there are solicitations up until # 152 (the series gets renumbered with # 17), with the story concerning his death starting with # 153.
So, people seem to complain because...they must complain about something, I guess?

I guess that was a bit of an overstatement, but Ultimatum wasn't THAT long ago, and I haven't read a single Ultimate comic since then. As far as I'm concerned, Ultimatum was the last significant thing to happen in the Ult U.

I actually am not happy with the idea of killing Ultimate Spider-Man off. There are very few characters in the Ultimate universe that I like and Spider-Man is one of them.

Don't worry there's still.........who's still alive in the Ultimate Universe again? Exactly. @morph: I like Spider-Man, Spider-Woman, Captain America, Tony Stark and Nick Fury. That is pretty much it for me unless I am forgetting someone (to be fair, I like Spider-Man's supporting cast as well).

I liked most of the Ultimate X-Men, Ultimate Spider-Man, his supporting cast, and several of his villains, obviously the Ultimates, Mahr-Vehl, and if I think of it, I'm sure I'll find more.

As far as series go, I loved Ultimate Spider-Man and the Ultimates. But I never really got into Ultimate X-Men. Fantastic Four was actually pretty fun as well. As far as individual characters go, I only liked the list above. When considering the series, it is a little different.

As far as series go, Ultimate Spider-Man, and the Ultimates are among my most favourite comics ever.
I have only read bits and pieces of Ultimate F4, but I liked Ultimate X-Men for the greatest part.
