@ded- Yeah. The bulky webshooters would make sense to be bulky and not quite as proficient as his first model.
I'm sure the slippers are meant for both traction and protection on/from the street since otherwise the actor would be essentially barefoot.

So organic webs do not make sense but the Nike suit does?

One thing I do not understand is that this is a Marvel movie and they are doing things that are very much not like Spider-Man as far as the look is concerned. The more I think about it, the more I hate the suit.

Which things are you referring to?

There is not much of the suit that is identical to the comic book version and if you consider the texture and weight of the suit, then there is nothing at all that is like the comic version.
Gloves? Nope. His gloves look like painted mountain biking gloves.
Torso stocking? Nope. Looks like Nike matted shirt.
Boots? Hell no.
Pants? Same as the torso only they also have the weird Spider-Woman feel to the design. The red stripe runs right down to his crotch. and he has this weird line running up the side.

I'm really not a fan of the suit either. From about the chest up it looks good, I think. But everything below is not so good. Too much blue, too. I wish they went the more classic route with the suit. Unfortunately, I think Sony decided to do this in an effort to distinguish the reboot as much as possible from Raimi's Spider-Man movies.

Hmm. I guess I don't hate it, but I can't say I like it either.
