Ha, now that's something. How did certain sound effects like punching come about? Haven't seen it? Basically when he's owning shield operatives is were I cringe, the rest of the trailer is kick ass. It sounds like they grabbed just general punch / kick sounds and slapped it on for the teaser. I expect to be replaced since you have about 4 months of editing to go through to apply sounds, graphics and cut the movie together. @data Haha yeah, the sound effects for Thor's kicks/punches in that particular fight scene don't really sound right. Hopefully they will change them. Heres the thing, I honestly think they just took some footage from the teaser and slapped onto the actual trailer. With the film's actual budget, we can get better sounds from Thor's punches and kicks. I honestly think it's just rushed on sounds to acknowledge his hitting people for the teaser.

Yeah I agree, and there is a ton of time left to polish and make some changes.

Yeah, I've seen the trailer. I was speaking of sound effects in general. Who was it that decided when action was going to be put into a movie came up with the sound effects for all the punches and stuff? Well, not so much who decided on it, but what made them choose it. I remember as a kid when me and my friends would rough house, I'd do my own sound effects for my actions as I was in action.

Has anyone read Thor #618?
Is it just me, or have these issues been short? They have been about 16 pages of actual story. Aren't they supposed to be about 22 pages?
Either way, I like where this story is going, and the art is great, but it is definitely taking its time to get there. It will undoubtedly unfold within the next couple months in an amazing story filled with action, but it is still building right now.
I hope the culmination of this arc results in Asgard going back to their own realm, because I'm absolutely done with it being on earth.

I'd espect once he's back he will probably put Asgard back where it should be and go do some epic fight with Surtuer after.

I've noticed the small sized issue too. The art actually took a short bit to grow on me, but I've been enjoying it. Can't wait to see how this new threat actually stands up to Thor. Looks like a pretty epic battle's about to go down.

@data- Odin was brought back in the last issue (#618). I'm pretty sure I've seen a preview of #619 where he is on the throne of Asgard still on earth, but I could be mistaken...I'll look for it again. Although I agree, I'm sure he will eventually bring it back to its own realm.
I was also wondering that about Surtur... Odin said he would not come back because every day he had to kill Surtur to prevent him from coming back and wreaking havoc. I hope this has a good explanation!
@nexus- For some reason Marvel likes the main Thor title to not have ink which I didn't like in the later issues on the Gillen run. But, Ferry's artwork and Hollingsworth's colors are awesome and I actually like it a lot and don't mind the lack of ink.
I agree about the 10th realm villains/World Eaters, they look like they will be a great threat and challenge. I'm not sure if you have noticed, but they seem to be the 'opposite' or 'negative' Asgardians. They have the father Uthana Thoth who is their extremely powerful leader/lord/king with a gray beard, his son Thane seems to be the next in charge and greatest warrior, and possibly Fex or Phanto the Sinister as Loki, etc.

Thats pretty much the only reason Odin stayed dead to fight Surtur for eternity, so with himback it's unlikely Surtur's gone. Anyhow I haven't have a chance to read 618 yet, out of curiosity did Odin atleast get his Odinforce back?

As annoying as Thor's voice was in MUA 2, it grew on me, this Thor's voice doesn't have the same THOR SON OF ODIN! feel to it.

I would like to see Surtur back, and unless there is some good reason, he should be.
Nothing has been mentioned about the Odin Force yet, but I assume it will come back or Odin will regain it. I remember someone saying a while back that JMS intended to have Thor regain the Odin/Thor Force, but as we know his run was cut short. I have not researched this and have no way of confirming it either.
Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston (the actors playing Thor and Loki in the Thor movie) are lending their voices to Thor and Loki in the video game. The 'For Asgard' just sounds like a casual use of it, and not when he proclaims it during battle. I am sure if we hear him yell it, it would sound much better. Surtur sounds awesome though.
Another note about the trailer: It is a little disheartening to hear that they are saying Thor gets all of his powers from Mjolnir, which is not the case. Even Mjolnir says, "the power of Thor." Thor has been able to use his powers without Mjolnir before, as he himself is the God of Thunder. I think Mjolnir is just used as a tool to focus some of his abilities, as well as provide a few extra like absorption. I hope his powers aren't portrayed this way in the movie.

I guess it depends on what they mean Mjolnir being the source of Thor's power. Without the thing, Thor is generally off away trapped in a mortal shell for a good chunk of his carrier and it provide Thor with a crapton of more powers to add to his existing power set. Anyhow I'll wait to see what relationship Thor has with Mjolnir before I fanrage.

Haha yeah true. I just hope they don't make Mjolnir the source of all of Thor's powers including his powers over the weather. That would in turn make Thor not so special, which isn't the case, lol.

Then you must like the new Avengers cartoon. The most damage I've seen people do to Thor in there was psychic attack and him being KOed(generally by entire teams of Supervillians that he still puts up a good fight against). Outside that all they've done is knock off his helmet and he proceedes to own the hell out of everything. Hell Thor was flying around without Mjolnir in one instance.(Defending Wasp from being vaporized by Modok's ship, visible dropping Mjolnir.) I'm suprised I liked the series as much as I did despite the appearances of the characters.(Bit too cartoony for me)

I haven't watched the Avengers cartoon in over a month probably. I have just been busy and haven't gotten around to it. But I did see the first 4 or so episodes (I believe the last one I saw was MODOK's first appearancewith Wonder Man) and I liked it a lot. Great action and fun stories. I'll have to check out the ones I've missed soon, especially if Thor is being treated well.
I believe Thor can technically 'fly' without Mjolnir via wind manipulation, though how effective it is I am not sure. I usually just see Thor floating in mid air when he doesn't have Mjolnir, but I don't recall seeing a time when he actually flew without it (but this is what I hear).
I am the creator of the "Official Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes Discussion" thread on comicvine but I haven't been too active there in some time either.

I was suprised at how powerful they were being depicted. The only thing they don't have much of anything of is any decent speed feats, outside that Thor has tanked just about anything thrown at him from the first episode seemingly without a scratch. I just caught up 1-15 yestarday since I had some free time.

I don't mind seeing Thor tank everything because he is really durable, and he shouldn't be knocked out by the vast majority of things.
I'm not too surprised that speed feats have not been shown because to me it seems like characters performing speed feats are not that high on Marvel's priority list.

The short-ness of Thor's main title is getting seriously annoying. The last issue #619 literally only had 13 pages of panels! What the hell is that? This arc showed some big promise, but has taken insanely long to get into the action. A couple things along the way have been a little questionable to me as well.
'Astonishing Thor' took a little bit of an unexpected turn for me last issue, but I'm definitely liking it so far. I love Thor being involved in cosmic action and this is exactly what it is. Getting into fights/encounters with guys like Stranger, Ego, Collector, etc is awesome. I hope he will get to encounter the Stranger and Ego again soon, maybe once he gets out of that pocket universe. His fight against Alter Ego next issue should be great.

You've been enjoying Astonishing too? Yeah, that's some great goodness. It's kinda interesting to see Thor monologuing in it too. Don't think I've ever read a story from Thor's point of view before. It's usually been just third person stuff. I'm liking that very much. Thor's so literate too. I actually had to look up one of the words he said. "Perfidy." Yeah, that's cool. The main Thor title has been nice too. Things're starting to boil over. Balder's funny. Best line from that: "My lords, the king is preparing to commit suicide." And I liked Odin's reaction to Loki. Just everything about Thor right now has been tight... except for that page length, but I guess there's enough content in it to make it seem like normal. Just wish it still wasn't $3.99. Thor shouldn't be $3.99 anyway.
