Like many people have, when i've read OMD, i really hated it. But now, i have realized that it was good. Of course you can call me stupid, idiot and stuff like that but i have my reasons. An important reason is that with OMD, Peter was single again and i think this could have some good results. One of them was the Amazing Spider-man #605. It was a hilarious issue with spidey trying to find a girlfriend. I really enjoyed and liked it. It also shows that Pete's personal life and relationships can get interesting. Another good result, is some good story arcs like New Ways to Die. Norman was not aware of Pete's super hero life and this was a result of OMD. Also, we had the return of Harry Osborn, something that brought us the American Son arc. As we can notice we have some good results of OMD. Also, there is something that we should notice. I have seen people saying that Peter, "sold" his wife to the devil and stuff like that. But we should know that this was something that MJ wanted to do too. It's something that both wanted to do. Also, if we read their last dialogue, we see MJ saying to Peter, that they will always be together and somehow they will find each other and they will be together again. That shows that when they made the deal, they knew / believed / felt, that even if their marriage will be erased, they will be together again. They believed that it was something that it will be solved. So it's fair to assume that this won't last forever. We are going to see MJ and Peter together again. So, i'll admit that i like OMD. OK, i'll be waiting for someone to throw me tomatoes.....

I've been making this same case to people for the longest time, but to no avail. Which finally led me to the conclusion that "haters gonna hate." But I'm glad you see the good it really did.
Really and truly, it's thanks to Back in Black/One More Day that I really got into Spider-man. I mean, I grew up loving him and all, but outside of the 90's cartoons that I barely remember and the movies, I never really paid much attention to him. Then after reading that...I dunno, I felt something. Peter just felt "real" to me. The decision he made definitely wasn't the best one, but the fact that he made it just seemed like something that a real human would do, and I think that's what Spider-man's supposed to be about--a real human making big mistakes for selfish reasons that probably won't work out for the best.
When the story was over with, I was still interested, so I jumped on Brand New Day, and have been enjoying it to this very day. So yeah, I will say that I like One More Day, and I will defend the comic like I've always been doing since the day I read it, and I'm not ashamed of it.

I'm glad that you agree with me. Indeed, that only shows that Spider-man is not perfect. He can make mistakes like everyone. But we also know that both of them did that with the idea that someday they will be together again. I think that make it sound a bit better. =]

I guess I do go overboard sometimes on my dislike for BND/OMD. I just didn't like the premise much. Spider-Man and MJ had known each other for a REALLY REALLY long time. They were like Reed and Sue, or Scott and Jean. They HAD to get married sometime. When they finally got married, the entire comic-loving world let out one collective "FINALLY"! Then they're married for a while and all the stuff in Peter's life is going generally well (for once). Then the writers are all like, "No! This can't happen! Spider-Man must not be happy! He must spend his entire life in perpetual misery! Hmm... what can we do... what can we do... I know! Let's kill Mary Jane! He won't be happy anymore! But wait... that's not good enough. Deaths of significant characters never last in comic books. She'll just be brought back to life at some point. Hmmmm.... I'VE GOT IT! Let's shoot Aunt May and then retcon half of Peter's life so that he and Mary Jane never even fell in love in the first place!!! YES!!!! OUR CRUELTY KNOWS NO BOUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Overly dramatized, I know. But that kinda seems like what the writers were thinking. Is it really such a horrible idea for Spider-Man to have a good life once in a while?

The writers weren't thinking that, Joe Quesada was. BTW, JMS's original plan for One More Day was FAR more drastic. forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=141756

LOL, I understand Power Nexus. This is what many people felt, including me, when they have read that arc. But i've just realized that is not that bad. As you can see we had some good results from that. And i am very sure that at one point, all will be solved and MJ will return back to Pete....i hope so. =]

What? I guess, you disagree with everything. I don't have a problem with that. I didn't make the thread to change people's opinion. I just make to show mine. =]

God I want to rewrite my entire 10 reasons why Marvel is run by jackasses post here just to explain why OMD was unilaterally nothing but crap from even the most generous perspective...
