See, my problem is that if we determined "street level" or any other classification by the threats they handle, I could just say A New Hope Luke Skywalker is a guardian of the world because he destroyed the Death Star with barely any Force training. LOL.

It's definitely not something that's easy to define, and in many cases just relies on logic.
For example, Mr. X. Street level powerhouse, or upgraded to low level superhuman thanks to his trumpcard?

Street level should be defined by your power set and abilities, what can realistically provide a challenge for you, using your abilities.

Lol, no. That's why I said most of the characters you listed, not all. They are not all considered street level. They are looked at as more of a street level team because of the characters on their roster. They have a good deal of street levelers, including Spider-Man and Luke Cage. Doctor Strange is a shell of what he used to be, I'm not even sure what to classify him as. Then you got your powerhouses of the team, Thing and somewhat Ms. Marvel. Look at the entire first arc of the new volume. They were fighting demons and magical abstracts. That's not a street level story. Now they are in a street level story because they're fighting Hydra or AIM or whatever it is, I can't remember. Yeah, after looking at the first arc of the new volume I want you to look at all the arcs of both volumes. Like I said, having a couple of major big league super threats doesn't automatically change the nature of the whole book. The majority of the stories New Avengers tells have been street level. The arcs about Ronin and Spider Woman, Civil War, The Initiative, The Trust, the 2nd annual, Echo, half of the Secret Invasion tie ins, all of Dark Reign except for the Voodoo parts, and now the current stuff. New Avengers isn't looked as a street level team because of the characters in their roster because the characters in their roster have too much of a wide range of abilities to say they're all "street," which only further adds on to the characters themselves don't dictate what being "street level" means. Street level isn't defined by power, it was never defined by power, but the fact that you believe it is is the reason that this thread is in place, because defining it by power leads to you having these discrepancies between who is and isn't, and because of that, you're trying to come up with another definition for the term that already has a meaning. That's what I was trying to point out from the beginning. It all boils down to a misconception of the definition of the term. I'm trying to clear that misconception by giving you the proper definition and reasons adding to why the proper definition is in place. So to reiterate, the reason why a guy like Spider-Man is considered a street level character is because the nature of the majority of his stories is street level. Same with Luke Cage, same with Iron Fist, and everyone else who is a street level character. Street level is not a tier listing, and it should never be considered a tier listing. It is a type of story. It's always been about the story. And with that, I've really nothing left to add to the discussion. I hope I was clear enough to get the point across. Like I said before, if you want tier listings, the best way to do it is come up with other terms with more precise definitions based on the character's attributes, something not unlike what Creator's been doing all along, something like what Crom proposed on the first page (but not actually using the term "street level" because street level already has a definition that's in use. Just so we're clear: @everyone who has posted and may post in this thread: Even if I disagree with you, I respect you and your positions. This is why I like you, and I sorta wanna steal your thunder and say that's exactly I feel about this discussion and its participants as well. So +1 karma to you.
