You guys are all talking as if the Zombie outbreak is going to explode right outside your doorstep. What if it happens across the country? You may very well have plenty of time to take care of loved ones and such. Would you head initial warnings or would you only take it serious once it got closer? I'd advise my dad to collect supplies on the side, while still doing his normal thing and what-not. If it spreads to Australia, there will be some warning so we'll get our family together and since there's an army training ground near my cousin's house, we'll go there.

Unless it started in Australia, I see the chances as pretty slim it would spread there.
That's just my opinion.

Well, then I'm pretty safe. It's good to be preaped, just in case, though.

In such an occasion I would make sure I had at least one firearm (luckily I already have a number of them), a number of important tools, canned and preserved foods, clothing appropriate for any weather you may encounter, first aid gear, flashlights, tons of batteries, candles and matches/lighters, seeds etc. These supplies can all be used in any survival situation including natural disasters, economic collapse, etc, etc. It may be a little costly but these things have their applications. of course it all depends on your financial stability.

It's a lot harder to get guns here.

Luckily I was given a number of them by my deceased Grandfather.

Do you know how to use them well enough to at least slow down a zombie?

Yes, I know how to use a gun lol. Depending how far away they are I'm pretty sure I could manage a few headshots. Honestly a gun is just as important in dealing with other survivors as it is with the Zeds. You don't want to fire a gun if you don't have to the noise is gonna attract more Zombies. (Or you can reasonably assume it may.)

A zombie apocalypse cannot happen. Then zombies won't make it past a three digit number before they are wiped out and people return to screwing themselves over the old fashioned way.

I don't have any guns of my own, but I live on the 'bad' side of town in the middle of Texas. Guns are like Happy Meal toys here.

Based on all the zombie movies I have seen, world wide outbreaks happen within 24 hours. By the time news gets out about what is going on, the likelihood that your suburb area is rife with undead is almost guaranteed.

''Guns are like Happy Meal toys here.'' They're cheap, crappy and nobody wants them besides small children?

Unless it started in Australia, I see the chances as pretty slim it would spread there. That's just my opinion. I disagree. In many zombie movies, infected people often do not even know they are infected and take several hours and in some cases up to a week to turn. That is more than enough time to travel to every part of the globe to spread the infection.
