Morph- That was the best single issue I have read in a while. I'm interested in seeing how this 'devolution' arc plays out. I love how Pak already had the first issue filled with Surfer doing cool things. His writing was incredible and the artwork was amazing.
I was confused about one thing though. The first page shows Surfer outside the earth, which is half destroyed? Then there are blue lights coming out of it? What is going on there?

Well I am assuming that this is from Chaos War and that this mini-series takes place right after it. Haven't read that so I cannot tell.

@ Secretly Hellos (don't want to blow yout cover) -
I absolutely loved the issue, I don't want to say more as not to spoil it, but the pacing was marvelous and the artwork simply powerful. Pak managed to capture the Surfer's voice nearly to perfection (as opposed to other times he's written him), and the story could easily appeal both to long time fans and new readers. Hopefully, it will sell well and turn into an on-going. Thank you Morph, trying to keep it on the down low. >.> <,< If you enjoyed it this much, it has to be a pretty damn good starting issue. I'll try to see if I can get a hold of it this weekend( If they haven't sold out at the two places I actually go to get my comics from) sounds pretty cool. Still wondering why the preview had him dump Galactus in our star though, but then again Pak made it seem like Galactus was on the verge of death so maybe Norrin couldn't really find another suitable star.

@ ckal - I would have to agree, this was my favorite of the issues I read this wek, as well, with Uncanny X-Force # 5, and ASM # 654.1 ranking second and third.
I think that was the Surfer using his powers to extract Galactus off Earth, building a carriage of sorts to pull him away. I enjoyed the ways SS used his powers in this issue, too, I can't wait for more.
@ Secretly Hellos - It was the nearest star in proximity, and the Surfer's narration states Galactus was so taxed from his effort during Chaos War that he couldn't even summon his ship to take him away. Hence why I believe the Surfer gave him our sun.

In other words, Surfer doomed our Solar System to die a billion years sooner. F@#k you, mini-Krona.

Well, if it wasn't for the guy in the purple helmet, there would be no solar system.

I did pick up on that in the preview, I was just suprised he dragged Galactus to our sun over just teleporting him into another. Not to mention cutting off a billion years from the sun might scorh the Earth a lot sooner than it was supposed to be, seems a bit suprising to see Norrin do. Although I can get it if Galactus was just about to die due to keeping that portal open to Continuum, otherwise Galactus may have died and bad things happen when Galactus dies, most of which could result in the end of the Earth or the Solar System anyways. Either way I just picked it up today and it was a pretty nice read, really liked that last page. =) Edit: After reading this, it all makes sense.

Surfer's new miniseries is off to an excellent start.
Question: Have Surfer and the High Evolutionary fought before?

@ Hellos - That's actually a pretty good explanation (not to mention a way to tie-in nicely with the current, and even the previous F4 run, since the whole Nu-World thing started with Millar), but from the Surfer's thoughts I presumed the effect would not be as radical in such short a time. But it's still a plausible thought to justify it within continuity.
@ Silver - No, they haven't.

@morpheus: Thanks.
The High Evolutionary has had interactions with Galactus though, right?

@morpheus: Was that due to prep, or was Galactus weakened, or is the High Evolutionary just that powerful in standard conditions? His normal power levels have always confused me. I never knew exactly where he was on scaling.

@ Silver - The Evolutionary's power levels confuse even him, let alone us. ;D
His showings are all over the place. Regularly, he should be above herald level characters, but nowhere near powerful enough to challenge Galactus. But it's not like he inflicted any harm to Galan when they fought, anyway.

@morpheus: LOL.
I was aware of some inconsistency with his showings, but if you think he should normally be above herald level, that's good enough for me. It at least lets me get a grasp of his power ranking.

Over the past few years, he hasn't done much of anything to warrant such a high power status, but that is the appeal of the character, he is a plot device in his own way, a possible foil for characters of various levels of power.

Ive been confused with high evolutionary as well. I've only read him in a few things, and the first was annihilation: conquest I believe, and there he was just afraid of the phalanx and running away. And yeah he did nothing in iron man /Thor.

@morph
I'm guessing Asgard will be leaving Earth and go back where it should be. Since Galactus plans on eating it, don't imagine a city would really be all that filling unless you've got some mystical energy lieing around Galactus would can eat.
I really need to pick up the second book in the devolution Arc.

Morph- Coipel is an amazing artist, I agree. I wish he would draw him a bit more muscular, but it's a different take.
Hellos- I would hope so. And if it happens, it's about damn time Asgard left earth.
