Hmm, I could get behind that, makes sense.
You have the scans of Ronan using his array of powers with his UV, right? I don't want to see them right now, just wondering IIRC.

I only have scans from some books I've read and he's been in. I don't really follow Ronan. Never had much interest in him character-wise.

I never said he did, he just has a lot of things he can do with the Universal Weapon. It just seems to me that after Ronan has been getting treated like a chump in the first two issues to that point (and the fact that the Annihilators joke around that Ronan is classified at a lower level than the rest of them), they wanted him to go save the day and show some of what he can do. Silver Surfer is definitely way above Ronan, but Ronan with his weapon can do some interesting things. Ask Morph for some scans, or I'll bring his attention to this thread. I get that, to be fair the Beta Ray Bill poking fun at Ronan, comparably he is a chump to the team. He has better versatility than Gladiator, but he's still the smallest fish on the food chain. So it was really just to give Ronan some on panel success instead of having an entire time of people that are way more powerful than him leave him in the dust. I had a similar discussion in CV recently. Ronan didn't really do anything SS couldn't have done for himself, it's a few things that made Ronan nullify Dredd's ability via molecular manipulation:
1) First of all, out of context, showing the bad guy can hurt the biggest gun of the team makes everyone go "wow".
2) Out of context again, Ronan was by far the one who got owned with the greatest ease by Ikon. Later on, he was marked as the weakest member of the crew. They had to show he was a valuable asset to the team.
3) In context, Ronan played it smart. He already saw that trying to punch Dredd wouldn't result to anything than hurting himself. So, he used the variety of his abilities, took that edge (pardon the pun) away, and hammered Dredd's face off.
In context, had it been Ronan the one who had attacked Dredd first, he would have been cut, as well, because there is no way he would have come up with that solution without having knowledge of Dredd's abilities. Accordingly, had the Surfer known (DnA forgot about his cosmic awareness in that instance, but it's OK, most writers forget about it 90% of the time) he would have done the same thing Ronan did. I don't know they seemed to be a lot more generous to Norrin in Issue two, they had Norrin sending out planetary wide messages to come the populace, establishing that Norrin can seemingly view both past present and future to a limited degree knowing the thread wasn't over, basic empathic ability to pick up whats her name's loneliness and deduce that the big bad was manipulating her. Hell they make Quasar sound like he has a man crush on Norrin at the start of the book. =P But yeah it sounds like Norrin and maybe Bill aswell could have potentially put Dredd down.

@ Hellos - I agree the Surfer demonstrated a variety of amazing powers during issue 2, but he was acting more like a shaman behind the scenes to guide the team instead of being such an active figure in combat (yeah, he fought, but his good moments were elsewhere).
Quasar showering heaps of praise on the Surfer is one of the few things DnA have kept from the older days of the character. Back when Quasar and SS fought, in Quasar's series, and Quasar took a dive in the end, Wendell was worried Norrin would think he was a pansy, and that he got embarrassed in front the "coolest character in the cosmos".
Later on, during their time as the Star Masters, Quasar referred to the Surfer's commanding presence as him being the equivalent to "an alien Captain America".
So yeah, Wendell's respect and admiration for him have always been immense. ;D

Dredd was sorta like, ouch my hand hurts, you goes get him while my hand glows. Nice to see Quasar being such a fan of Norrin lol.

Finally got to read #3. Didn't see the ending of it coming. Well it really came out of nowhere, so it's understandable to not see it coming. I still haven't gotten my hands on four and wouldn't mind seeing how it plays out.

"Prepare for impact", LOL. Lol, that was some kind of impact. I have a lot to say about the end of that issue, which i'll put down below. But first,.... I remember how siked we both were about Segovia on the art, and we loved what he did in the first issue. When I found out he wasn't going to be on it anymore I was pretty let down. This guy Toliba is pretty good though, but I don't like the way he draws the Silver Surfer. Side note: Do you know who drew the promo art for next issue? The page a the end of issue #4? [glow=red,2,300]SPOILERS[/glow]
So...Surfer got his powers back. Did he get all of his power back, or just some, because the way it happened raises the question to me, it doesn't make much sense. He got it back from a small amount of Power Cosmic the Seeker used. Well, the Seeker should hardly be powerful at all to begin with. The High Evolutionary only possesses the amount of Power Cosmic the Silver Surfer had, which was a tiny fraction of the amount that Galactus possesses (HE even stated he couldn't use it all yet). Then HE gave a portion of his Power Cosmic (assuming a fraction as well) to Suzi to become his herald. Then SS got his powers back from a fraction of the Power Cosmic which the Seeker used. You see the chain here Morph? It doesn't make sense at all. So either: 1) SS is extremely less powerful 2) SS is the same as before he lost his powers and is therefore infinitely stronger than the Seeker 3) It's better not to ask and just accept what's on page

Yep, that's also the cover for # 5. As I suspected, it's by Carlo Pagulayan. He's a frequent Greg Pak collaborator, and he did the covers for this series, as well.
